Critical Error - Your Start menu isn't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in

I need help. I see this error message whenever I click start menu icon:

enter image description here

Long story short, I am a Windows 10 tinkerer and installed + programs and made numerous tweaks to my Windows 10 operating system, and some recent hacks had broke my Windows 10 installation, namely Start menu not working properly and unable to install Windows Updates, I have tried repair install numerous times but inexplicably the repair install always fails and automatically reverts, and I can't pickup anything useful from .

I have tried this script numerous times:

And the result is always "The restore operation completed successfully", "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity error # 2005530518 -- but the issues were never fixed.

So I decided to do a clean install, but first I want to check which programs don't need to be reinstalled, I don't want to reinstall all those + programs again, so I want to know which programs will run properly if I just copy the installation folder from "C:\Program Files", "C:\Program Files (x86)" and C:\ProgramData without running the installer and which programs must be reinstalled.

So I ran this script:

And found most programs don't require reinstallation, but some do.

However this is where the new problem started: I have many drives, I have 1 GB Samsung QVO SSD and 3 Seagate HDDs, two BarraCudas, one GB and one GB, and 1 GB Exos 7E8, currently I use the SSD as the main OS drive and installed Windows 10 20H2 to it, I have installed different OSes to all four disks, and I am currently using the spare Windows 10 20H2 installed on the GB HDD.

I have found out many programs created folders inside C:\ProgramData folder, v3 critical error 10 39, and I suspect the files there might be needed to start the programs, so I have done something stupid, I copied the ProgramData folder to the root of the spare Windows installation directory, using fastcopy, what makes it stupid? I have explicitly chosen to "Copy (Overwrite)", and immediately after that Start menu malfunctions.

I have tried and of course, but that didn't help, I now realize that the files inside C:\Windows must be intact, but some system files inside C:\ProgramData was corrupted and these files weren't fixed byand these corrupted files have overwritten the good files inside the spare Windows installation.

I tried safe mode and it didn't help.

I found this PowerShell command:

But it doesn't even do anything.

Then I fixed the code and ran it:

The ShellExperienceHost is reinstalled but it doesn't fix anything.

I can also tell you ShellExperienceHost and StartMenuExperienceHost aren't running.

I tried WSReset and it errored out.

enter image description here

So how can I fix this spare Windows installation without repair install? Can a repair install even do it?

Resolution

Problem was resolved after doing the changes below. There is no single root cause, but creating new device and setting parameters below helped most:

1. Added 1 new device in SN03
2. Distributed backups evenly into SN01 an SN03 (target session etc)
3. Changed backup start times
4, v3 critical error 10 39. Added these parameters in NMDA DB2 Application information:

NSR_MAX_START_RETRIES=50
NSR_FXBUSY_RETRIES=10
NSR_MMDB_RETRY_TIME=10

5, v3 critical error 10 39. Increased Inactivity timeout toRetries=2, Retry delay=10

Me too. I have tried every suggestion  which has been made up to & including this one. My system worked just fine up to Jan. Then I started getting that Critical Error --Your start menu isn't working. We'll try to fix it the next time you sign in. It won't allow me to re-install or download Window   I have 4 computers running Windows 10, v3 critical error 10 39, so far only 1 is doing this, do I have to look forward for this to happen on all my computers? When will or is there a fix coming. This is very very frustrating.

I just don't understand why this is happening to so many members.

I have and old Compaq Presario computer with an Intel Celeron D CPU GHz,

1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s).

Bios version/date : Phoenix technologies, LTD5/19/

Memory (RAM) : GB.

Originally purchased v3 critical error 10 39 years ago or more (Don't recall the exact date), originally loaded with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

Later : Win, v3 critical error 10 39. XP, Win. XP Pro, Win. Vista, Win.7 Home Edition and now Windows10 Home.

The only upscale I did to it was to install a graphics card : AMD Radeon HDneeded for Windows 10, and increased the Wattage with a Watt ATX Power supply and one extra Hard Drive.

That is All, nothing Else !!.

I don't have this "Critical Error" : Start Menu and Cortana not Working.

They are working just fine !!.

Actually I don't consider myself to be lucky.

I consider myself to be a person who knows how to prepare a computer to be ready, and to accept a new Windows System, in this case Windows 10 Home.

well maybe BG has made enough money -so he does not care. It is a major issue  almost bordering on the criminal since so many are having this issue /s and MS  knows about it   sort of like a bad switch in the cars. When enough people say  enough it will v3 critical error 10 39. I am surprised that the other computer makers   like Delletc are not complaining since  others are going to Apple. I have an opened Surface book that I got - but will return at this point

This section lists each TopLink error code. Each error entry contains a description of the error, the probable cause, and the recommended action. Each error code corresponds to an exception class. See "Runtime and Development Exceptions" for more information. v3 critical error 10 39 description shown in the actual exception thrown.

Action: V3 critical error 10 39 method to add multiple foreign key fields.

IDENTITY_MAP_NOT_SPECIFIED

Cause: The descriptor must use an identity map to use the Check cache does exist option, v3 critical error 10 39. Descriptor has been set to not use identity map but the existence checking is set to be done on identity map.

Action: Either use identity map or set the existence checking to some other option.

ILLEGAL_ACCESS_WHILE_GETTING_VALUE_THRU_ INSTANCE_VARIABLE_ACCESSOR

Cause: <attributeName> instance variable in object <objectName> is inaccessible, v3 critical error 10 39. Instance variable in the domain object is not accessible. This exception is thrown when TopLink tries to access the instance variable using Java reflection, v3 critical error 10 39. The error is purely Java exception and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

On transformation mapping the method used to retrieve value from the object while writing transformation mapped attribute is getting illegal argument. The error is purely Java exception and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and v3 critical error 10 39 the Java manuals.

ILLEGAL_ARGUMENT_WHILE_OBSOLETE_EVENT_ EXECUTION

Cause: he number of actual and formal parameters for the descriptor callback method <eventMethodName> differs, or an unwrapping conversion has failed. The callback event method is invoked with illegal argument. This exception is thrown when TopLink tries to invoke the event method using Java reflection. The error is a purely Java exception and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

ILLEGAL_ARGUMENT_WHILE_SETTING_VALUE_THRU_ INSTANCE_VARIABLE_ACCESSOR

Cause: Illegal value is being assigned to the attribute instance variable. Trying to set a value <value> for an instance variable pix 515e sysopt connection permit-pptp error of type <typeName> in the object, v3 critical error 10 39. The specified object is not an instance of the class or interface declaring the underlying field, or an unwrapping conversion has failed, v3 critical error 10 39.

TopLink does the assignment of value by using Java reflection. Java throws the error and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

ILLEGAL_ARGUMENT_WHILE_SETTING_VALUE_THRU _METHOD_ACCESSOR

Cause: Illegal argument is being passed to the attribute's set accessor method, v3 critical error 10 39. Trying to invoke method <setMethodName> on the object. The number of actual and formal parameters differs, or an unwrapping conversion has failed. Java throws the error and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

INSTANTIATION_WHILE_CONSTRUCTOR_INSTANTIATION

Cause: he class does not define a public default constructor, or the constructor raised an exception. The default constructor for the domain object is invoked to create new instance of the object while building new domain objects. If this Class represents an abstract class, an interface, an array class, v3 critical error 10 39, a primitive type, or void; or if the instantiation fails for some other reason. Java throws the error and TopLink only wraps the reflection exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

INVALID_DATA_MODIFICATION_EVENT

Cause: This v3 critical error 10 39 an exception that an application should never encounter. The exception can occur at the time of developing TopLink. In cases where one writes new mapping it is possible to get this exception. In direct collection mapping and many to many mapping the target table and relational table are populated at the end of the commit process and if data modification event is sent to any other mapping then this exception is thrown.

Action: Contact Technical Support.

INVALID_DATA_MODIFICATION_EVENT_CODE

Cause: This is an exception that an application should never encounter, v3 critical error 10 39. The exception can occur at the time of developing TopLink. In cases where one writes new mapping it is possible to get this exception. In direct collection mapping and many to many mapping the target table and relational table are populated at the end of the commit process and if data modification event is sent to these two mappings with wrong event code then this exception is thrown.

Action: Contact Technical Support.

INVALID_DESCRIPTOR_EVENT_CODE

Cause: This is an exception that an application should never encounter. The exception can occur at the time of developing TopLink. The exception means that descriptor event manager does not support the event code passed in the event.

Action: Contact Technical Support.

INVALID_IDENTITY_MAP

Cause: Identity map constructor failed because an invalid identity map was specified. The identity map class given in the descriptor cannot be instantiated. The exception is Java exception thrown by Java reflection when TopLink is instantiating the identity map class. TopLink only wraps the Java exception.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

JAVA_CLASS_NOT_SPECIFIED

Cause: The v3 critical error 10 39 does not define a Java class. The Java class is not specified in the descriptor.

Action: Specify the Java Class

DESCRIPTOR_FOR_INTERFACE_IS_MISSING

Cause: A descriptor for the referenced interface is not added to the session.

Action: Add that descriptor to the session.

MAPPING_FOR_SEQUENCE_NUMBER_FIELD

Cause: A non-read-only mapping is not defined for the sequence number field. A mapping is required so that TopLink can put and extract values for the primary key.

Action: Define a mapping.

MISSING_CLASS_FOR_INDICATOR_FIELD_VALUE

Cause: Missing class for indicator field value <classFieldValue> of type <type>. There was no class entry found in the inheritance policy for the indicator field value read from the database, v3 critical error 10 39. Probably the method was not called for the field value. The class and typeValue is stored in the hashtable and later on the class is extracted from the hashtable by passing as a key. Remember Integer(1) is not equal to Float(1), this is another major reason for this problem when the type of typeValue is different.

Action: Check descriptor.

MISSING_CLASS_INDICATOR_FIELD

Cause: The class indicator field is missing from the database row <row> that was read from the database. This is done in inheritance model where after reading rows from the database, child domain objects are to be constructed depending upon the type indicator values.

Action: Check the printed row to make sure the spelling is correct.

MISSING_MAPPING_FOR_FIELD

Cause: Missing mapping for field <field>; a mapping for the field is not specified.

Action: Define a mapping for the field.

NO_MAPPING_FOR_PRIMARY_KEY

Cause: A mapping for the primary key is not specified, v3 critical error 10 39. There should be one non-read-only mapping defined for the primary key field.

Action: efine a mapping for the primary key.

MULTIPLE_TABLE_PRIMARY_KEY_NOT_SPECIFIED

Cause: The multiple table primary key mapping must be specified when a custom multiple table join is used. If multiple tables are specified in the descriptor and the join expression is customized then the primary keys for all the tables must be specified. If the primary keys are not specified then the exception is caused.

Action: Call method on the descriptor to set the primary keys.

MULTIPLE_WRITE_MAPPINGS_FOR_FIELD

Cause: There are multiple writable mappings for the field <fieldName> in the descriptor. Exactly one must be defined writable. The others must be specified as read-only. When multiple write mappings are defined for the field, TopLink cannot decide on which mapping to pick up for writing the value of the field in the database row hence the exception is thrown during the validation process of descriptors. The most common site for this problem is that sometimes the field has direct-to-field mapping and also one-to-one mapping. In this case if direct-to-field mapping has to be kept then v3 critical error 10 39 mapping should either be read-only or it should be target foreign key reference.

Action: Make one of those mappings read only.

NO_ATTRIBUTE_TRANSFORMATION_METHOD

Cause: The attribute transformation method name in the transformation mapping is not specified, v3 critical error 10 39. This method is invoked internally by TopLink to retrieve value to store in the domain object.

Action: Define a method and set the method name on the mapping by calling method .

NO_FIELD_NAME_FOR_MAPPING

Cause: System error 1722 rpc server unavailable field name is specified in direct-to-field mapping.

Action: Set the field by calling .

NO_FOREIGN_KEYS_ARE_SPECIFIED

Cause: Neither the selection criteria nor the foreign keys were specified on one-to-one mapping, v3 critical error 10 39. If the selection criterion is not specified then TopLink tries to build one from the foreign keys specified in the mapping.

Action: Specify the fields.

NO_REFERENCE_KEY_IS_SPECIFIED

Cause: No query key named: <queryKey> found in: <descriptor>; no reference key from the target table is specified on direct collection mapping.

Action: Specify the fields by calling method .

NO_RELATION_TABLE

Cause: The relation table name is not set in this many-to-many mapping.

Action: Set relation table name by calling method .

NO_SOURCE_RELATION_KEYS_SPECIFIED

Cause: There are no source relation keys specified in this many-to-many mapping.

Action: Add source relation keys to the mapping.

NO_SUCH_METHOD_ON_FIND_OBSOLETE_METHOD

Cause: The descriptor callback method <selector> on the domain class was not found. It must take a or a as its argument. TopLink tries to invoke the method using Java reflection. It is a Java exception and TopLink is only wrapping the main exception, v3 critical error 10 39.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

NO_SUCH_METHOD_ON_INITIALIZING_ Prology error 06 The method <attributeMethodName> with parameters <databaseRow> or <databaseRow, v3 critical error 10 39, session> is autoit error subscript used with non-array variable found. TopLink wraps the Java reflection exception that is caused when the method is being created from the method name. This method is set by calling.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

NO_SUCH_METHOD_WHILE_CONSTRUCTOR_ INSTANTIATION

Cause: Inaccessible constructor. TopLink wraps the Java reflection exception that is caused when it is creating a new instance of the domain, v3 critical error 10 39.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

NO_SUCH_METHOD_WHILE_CONVERTING_TO_METHOD

Cause: Method <methodName> not found with parameters () or (Session), v3 critical error 10 39. TopLink wraps the Java reflection exception that is caused when it is creating a Method type from the method names in transformation mapping.

Action: Inspect the internal exception and check the Java manuals.

An infrequent but very annoying error can occur when upgrading to Windows 10 from a previous version stating ‘Critical Error, Your start menu isn’t working. We’ll try to fix it the next time you sign in’. Of course, the next time you sign in, you usually still see that error. Here’s how to fix the Windows 10 critical error, v3 critical error 10 39, ‘Your start menu isn’t working’ for good.

The error may manifest itself as ‘Start error and Cortana aren’t working’ but it’s the same thing.

Fix Windows 10 critical error: ‘Your start menu isn’t working’

We will need to boot into safe mode to get it fixed.

1. Hold down the shift key as you select Start Menu, then Power and then Restart.
2. Select Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Startup Settings and Restart.
3, v3 critical error 10 39. Once rebooted, select F5 for ‘Safe Mode with networking’.
4. Sign into your Microsoft account.
5. Reboot your machine normally.

For the vast majority of users this is enough to cure the error. If it doesn’t work for you, we have a little more work to do.

Add a new account to Windows 10
Creating a new account within Windows 10 usually works if booting into safe mode doesn’t, v3 critical error 10 39. Here’s how.

1. Navigate to Settings, Accounts and Your account.
2. Select Family & other users and then Add someone else to this PC.
3. Create an account and log into Windows using it.
4. If the error no longer appears, log out of the account and log back in using your original account.
5. Delete this newly created account if Windows now works properly

Fortunately, most users only have to perform the boot into safe mode to cure the Windows 10 critical error: ‘Your start menu isn’t working’, v3 critical error 10 39. However, the rest of those I know who had this error found the second step fixed it for them. Hope it helps!

Krysez:

After the new patch, this is now the error code when starting my server. but it is only when trying to load up my backup. If i wipe the server it works fine. But if i have to do that, I’m done with Conan.

My added emphasis.

I think that sums up a lot of feelings I have been hearing and feeling myself.

Rightly or wrongly folks have put in ’s of hours making mods or designing servers and so forth. If that cant be recovered then its a case of why bother? Leave a nasty review and off they will go.

I do so get that this is a Bug fest and totally not what the Team wanted, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is what third time this year we have a major patch/release/something and the game goes down for a large portion of the community (Well a large portion of the Vocal community at least!)

This presents a circular issue:

  • “Why wasn’t this flagged on Test live” is the cry

  • “Were you actually ON Test live and spotted it?” Is the reasonable response.

  • “No coz Test live obviously doesn’t work!” is the comeback
(and currently pretty hard to disagree with when we sit here again with Servers down or half alive with custom created content up the duff or even hard won Vanilla content disappearing while folks struggle with the new system or to get on the unstable servers?)

Any way I said that to say this: "Why is Funcom so adverse to Rolling back bad Patches?"

Surely the way to “Fix” this is give players and servers the option to revert to the previous version so they can play on and at least make any possible arrangements to back stuff up. While those that do carry on with the new can start to delve into the new stuff and uncover any other bugs?

Naturally there can be no support for the “Old version” of Conan like this fair enough, but at least we can play our Modded servers till the Bug fixes (which in turn would not have to be so rushed out to the stress of the programmers doing the work!) are in?

Why does Funcom apparently like making work for themselves and alienating sections of their community when a roll back would fix all that and save everyone’s stress levels?
(Lets not even talk about what the companies credibility must look like to those looking in from without! Jeez Imagine the conversations: “Funcoms got a new game coming out looks like it on an interesting subject” – Likely reply after reading some reviews “Oh God not interested now! Did you see how bad those guys are at fixing things?!!” Had the roll back contingency been used they would have reacted. “Oh look they can be buggy but a real good at restoring it and trying again later Ok maybe I’ll take a look at their new (fill in the blank))

Is it some Oriental “Must save face by not admitting fault” thing? I really do not understand the “Logic” of soldiering on with a bad initial release of a bit of software. Maybe the gamer market is so much more forgiving than the business world I’ve lived in for thirty years, I can’t think of another product type that could survive serial ■■■■ ups like this.

Try new updates and patches with the live majority, if it “fails” or develops issues. Revert it for the majority then go back in and tweak and re release. Rinse repeat till stable what’s the issue with that?

Critical Error

Thu May 30, v3 critical error 10 39, am

I try to start the game up but it says that several errors have occurred and the application is stalling, then it says that a critical error has occurred and that I should post the Main txt file to the support forum.
