I have had victoria error reading smart CRC error count thing happen to my system not too long ago.
In my case what happened was actually the DVD drive SATA cable going bad or having a poor connection, causing interference with the main HDD.
When this happened I was getting long long load times, and bluescreens.
By the time I had figured out ultradna crc errors the issue was, the HDDs smart logged 111 CRC error data.

Still runs good as gold.
All the Ultra DMA CRC Error count tells me is at one time rasclient error 829 the usage of the HDD, there was a problem causing the HDD not to function correctly, not the HDD itself.

In more uncommon cases, the CRC error count, would be caused by a failing logic board on the Ultradna crc errors But by then it would be obvious there is a problem without looking at HDTune.

About a month ago my PC (running Win 10 Pro) started to crash randomly and when copying some files, I noticed there was an issue with file corruption on the target drive. This then behaved for a few days and then escalated to the system freezing completely. But the system was still unstable and crashed a few more times after this.

I then booted into Win 7 on my other HDD on this system to see if I could figure out what was going on. I ran HD Tune and let it do a full media scan, no errors on disk surface, ultradna crc errors, but in the health section it showed a high value for the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count (this eventually increased as I continued battling to pull data off the affected drive). I also have to point out that both the affected Win 10 HDD and the Win 7 HDD are both the same type, that being WD 1TB Blue SATA, the former being less than 3 years old and the latter a little over a year old now.

After reading that it could be a SATA cable issue, or bad clusters, or the HDD controller on the drive, and then realising that the warranty for these drives is only 2 years now, I decided to play around with the cables and troubleshoot a bit. Since disconnecting and reconnecting the SATA cable to the affected drive, I have also done a full reinstallation of Win 10 Pro after formating this error 100. partition table is bad with newly created partitions from the Win 10 Pro installation. So far, the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count has not changed since I played around with the cable, and the OS on the drive appears to be running stable.

When the drive started to act up, it was running a bit low on space, but not to the point where it could no longer function - is it possible that this was all caused simply due to the cable and the way it was plugged in at the moment? Maybe some dust? I do clean my PC from time to time, but it does sometimes become a bit dusty. HD Tune shows the overall health as OK, and all the attributes apart from the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count (Current 200, Worst 1, Threshold 0, Data 403274) appear normal. The WD Lifeguard diagnostics app also shows the drive as being in perfect health, and in fact doesn't even show anything wrong with the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count.

Outro programa de SMART, o HDDSCAN  tambem mostrou os mesmos erros e alertas no ULTRA DMA CRC Error Count.

 

Sabe-se que este tipo de erro indica problemas no Cabo de Interface (mau contato ou cabo defeituoso). Isto exigiria a retirada do disco do Notebook e

a substituição do cabo. Pergunto: isto poderia provocar algum risco de estragar os dados armazenados na unidade?.

 

Outra duvida seria quanto a outros campos do SMART que estao mostrando valores absurdos, como o Power On Hours Count   de 2750 (numero de horas de power on 2750 hs), pois o valor indicado esta absurdamente alto para um laptop com menos de 1 mes de uso.  Tambem o Head Flying Hours de 2105 hs esta absurdo!   Outro absurdo e o numero de Write Error Rate   1925377, ultradna crc errors. Em resumo, esta parecendo que o SMART do disco esta com problemas.

Hey guy's I'm new hear, but I have been using this forum for good hardware advice for years. So here is one for ya:

I'm a Mac guy mainly for the production software choices and ease of use. Right now I have a brand new MacBook Pro that I primarily use, but before that it was just my Mac Mini 202012 (Quad Core i7). I bought it new in 2012 because you couldn't beat the price of $5-600 and I already had a monitor. So I got the Quad-Core, maxed RAM at 16GB, and I removed the internal HDD & optional optical drive. I believe I bought a dual-kit online, I ordered two Samssung 850 EVO's (500GB & 1TB) and followed the instructions on YouTube. Looking back I must've done a good job because I have not had 1 single problem with this computer for almost 9 years! Before I get lost in telling a story, I just added a copy of the DriveDx disk health monitoring app for Mac, I don't know if anyone uses it? Well within an hour of installing it, its giving me a friendly warning that my 1TB EVO is getting an error all over the place. Like... 32,000 times total - I assume thats.

Based on the app, and google I am being told that the issues is with my SATA (3.1) interface's cable, the port (internal I guess?), our possible the whole interface or my SSD data. However, I ran a diagnostic on drive using the same app and 2 others and they all check out well. Its a 9 years old SSD but its been well cared core, exrcised (but not excessively) and all of its health score are in the 90s still, while younger external SSDs have started to die on me. I'm also not inclined to believe its the entire SATA interface since that would most likely cause some issues with the other SSD, and that one is doing well according to the tests.

So it's either busted SATA cable or a port if someone can explain that to me. Any advice on parts to order? I assume I should have no issues if I was able to install them. Also, out of curiosity I was wondering if there are any cool/affordable upgrades I can look into before ordering parts? This is the last official Mac (besides new Mac Pro) that could be customized DIY so Im very attached to it.

**DOES ANYONE know of a compatible I/O of ports that can be switched out with this one? It only has 1 Thunderbolt so I could never use a monitor with certain devices and had to use HDMI (but it is HDMI 1.4 so does output 21:9 widescreen without external software. So maybe there is a more modern I/O that could be switched with this ones if it works with SATA v3.1 (i think) def 6Gbps though.

I also have to point out that both the affected Win 10 HDD and the Win 7 HDD are both the same type, that being WD 1TB Blue SATA, the former being less than 3 years old and the latter a little over a year old now.

After reading that it could be a SATA cable issue, or bad clusters, or the HDD controller on the drive, and then realising that the warranty for these drives is only 2 years now, I decided to play around with the cables and troubleshoot a bit. Since disconnecting and reconnecting the SATA cable to the affected drive, I have also done a full reinstallation of Win 10 Pro after formating this drive with newly created partitions from the Win 10 Pro installation. So far, the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count has not changed since I played around with the cable, and the OS on the drive appears to be running stable.

When the drive started to act up, it was running a bit low on space, but not to the point where it could no longer function - is it possible that this was all caused simply due to the cable and the way it was plugged in at the moment? Maybe some dust? I do clean my PC from time to time, but it does sometimes become a bit dusty. HD Tune shows the overall health as OK, and all the attributes apart from the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count (Current 200, Worst 1, Threshold 0, Data 403274) appear normal. The WD Lifeguard diagnostics app also shows the drive as being in perfect health, and in fact doesn't even show anything wrong with the Ultra DMA CRC Error Count.

 

 

Conforme combinado com o técnico da Dell hoje a Tarde, passei novamente os testes de

diagnostico, desta vez utilizando o CD de Utilities ao invés dos testes armazenados do HD.

 

Todos os testes iniciais foram executados por completo. Apos o término dos mesmos,

excutamos os testes adicionais relativos a Disco. Os resultados dos testes, que duraram 3

horas e 45 minutos foram os seguintes:

1) Confidence check: cancelei apos mais de 1/2 hora

2) Device Quick Check: OK

3) Drive Self Test Longo: cancelado

4) Drive Self Test Short: OK

5) SATA READ TEST: Cancelado

6) SEEK test: Cancelado apos algum tempo

7) Teste de SMART: OK (*)

8) Teste START: OK

9) Teste STOP: OK

10) Teste VERIFY: Executado por completo: OK

 

(*) Gostaria de saber, com certeza, se este teste lê os dados de SMART e verifica se os

mesmos estão dentro do limites corretos ou apenas verifica se o SMART esta funcionado ou

implementado.

 

Em resumo, as ferramentas da DELL não acusaram nenhum erro no Computador Dell Inspiron

N5010 (Service TAG <ADMIN NOTE:Service tag removed privacy policy>) nem nos discos.

 

O programa HdTunePro, atualizado para a versão 4.6, que indicava antes dos testes o valor

do "Ultra DMA CRC Error Count" de 4.600.000 erros, apos o teste mostrava uma contagem de

5.600.000, ou seja um aumento de 1.000.000 de erros, ocorridos durante os testes.  

 

Outro programa de SMART, o HDDSCAN  tambem mostrou os mesmos erros e alertas no ULTRA DMA CRC Error Count.

 

Sabe-se que este tipo de erro indica problemas no Cabo de Interface (mau contato ou cabo defeituoso). Isto exigiria a retirada do disco do Notebook e

a substituição do cabo. Pergunto: isto poderia provocar algum risco de estragar os dados armazenados na unidade?.

 

Outra duvida seria quanto a outros campos do SMART que estao mostrando valores absurdos, como o Power On Hours Count   de 2750 (numero de horas de power on 2750 hs), pois o valor indicado esta absurdamente alto para um laptop com menos de 1 mes de uso.  Tambem o Head Flying Hours de 2105 hs esta absurdo!   Outro absurdo e o numero de Write Error Rate   1925377. Em resumo, esta parecendo que o SMART do disco esta com problemas.
