SCSI. If a device does not show up here, the device is not properly seen with the operating system.

The Port Driver that is currently active against the same " Scsi Prt" as your tape device or library is included in this section. In the example provided this being aic78xx. An internet search using the driver name with .sys added as a suffix can be used to identify the connectivity of the device, some examples of Port Drivers being:

  • aic78xx  (Adaptec SCSI connection)
  • bfadi  (Brocade Fiber Channel/FC connection)
  • LSI_SAS2 (LSI Corporation, Serial Attached SCSI/SAS Connection)

V ] For the section that is outlined in yellow:

This area is called Device Discovery. If this section is not present in sprers.eu then Backup Exec is having trouble communicating with one or more of the devices. If there is information, then Backup Exec records that information about the device. The following information is gathered:

1. Device Name: This is the name that Windows has given the device in the registry. Each tape device and medium changer will have a unique name.

2. Primary Inquiry: The first 24 characters in this string contain the name of the device. The last part of this string is the firmware level of the device. The name of the device is what Backup Exec will use when trying to load a driver for that device.

a. If the device is a medium changer, Backup Exec will match this string up with the VSDLoadTable, located in the registry under HKey_Local_Machine

Hi StevensWylie,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

The error is related to privileges of the user account. The error occurs if -
The SYSTEM group does not have Full Control privileges or The Everyone group does not have Full Control privileges.

Refer to the Microsoft article for more details. The article is for office setup but you may use the steps for resolution to your issue - sprers.eu

You may try to take the ownership of the folder and then use the steps to grant permission to everyone.

Before taking ownership I would suggest you to create a new restore point so that the system may be reverted back in case of any loss of data or irregular behavior.

Follow the steps in the below link to create a restore point - The System Restore tool uses restore points to return system files and settings to an earlier point in time. You can use it to restore the operating system to a point in time in which you did not experience the problem. To restore back you need to have a restore point available so I would suggest you to create a new restore point before taking ownership of the folder –
sprers.eu

You may take the ownership of the folder and then use the steps to grant permission to everyone –

  1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer
  2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu
  3. Click on Security tab
  4. Click on “Advance”
  5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows
  6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.
  7. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)
  8. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed
  9. Now Owner name must have changed.
  10. Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows
  11. Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder

Grant Permissions to everyone-

  1. Go to C:\Users\ and then click right click on folder "Your user name" and choose properties.
  2. Then go to security tab and click Edit then click Add => Advanced.
  3. If you click on advanced now click on Find Now and choose Everyone and click Ok.
  4. Then again click Ok and now click on Allow  => Full control => Ok.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to create a new use account with administrator rights and then try to perform the changes and check if the steps work for you -

I had the same problem. The suggestions in the other replies did not help (I don't think they address the root cause of this specific problem).

I was, however, able to install Quicken by arranging for the Q installer not to remove old versions of Quicken (e.g., Q in my case). See sprers.eu Following these instructions, I installed Q in a different directory (e.g. \Program Files\Quicken), which completed successfully. Thus, the problem is in removing the old version of Quicken, which can be done later.

I had similar problems installing a valid version of MS office Home and Student with error   No matter what I tried, I had no ability to change access/permissions to change ownership of the necessary folder C:\programfiles (x86)\common files\microsoft shared\equation\  I tried a plug in reg program "GrantAdminFullControl" which was useless, and about 3 hours of google searching for solutions.  Lots of reference to ms forum which says to simply change ownership/access control, which is all well and good if you can do it, which is typically not able (thus the original problem). This new windows 7 home premium (bit) pc came preloaded with ms works, so I thought the original ownership was microsofts.  Thinking I was smarter than the average bear, I opened control panel, programs and uninstalled ms works, as a hunchuninstalled fine, but still no access to change my single login admin to change folder permissions.  So I finally figured it out

Reboot into safe mode in any way possible (networking, prompt, etc).  Once in safe mode, go to the folder that is causing you the hassle, in my case it is listed above.  Once you are at the folder, right click and go to properties, get into the administrative folder for security and edit the permissions.  In safe mode I was able to take over full controls of all settings.  Click apply, then ok then close the folder.  Reboot normally, and you should (might!) have found the program now installs without the permission problem of your install folder.  Let me know if it works for you.

I've found another solution wich will fix the mentioned security permission while maintaining the security access level by not letting everyone take full control over the folder.

just repeat Maghmala steps, but instead of adding [Everyone] account, just add [System] instead.

I figured out this fix while installing Visual Studio  Ultimate, the root directory of the installation folder didn't include the [System] account, and when I did, Boom, it's fixed :) .

Unfortunately your solution doesn't work for me.

This worked for me after 2hrs of struggle: Start the command prompt with admin rights and start sprers.eu from there. I had .iso image downloaded and mounted on Pismo File mount

the answer to this is simple, download unlocker at this link sprers.eu and run it make sure its the latest version then go to the Microsoft Shared folder and select EQUATION with the unlocker, the folder will say blocked, press unlock and the EQUATION folder will temporarily disappear  then restore, after that you will now be able to access the EQUATION folder when you install MS Office 10

i hope this helps

Cognos Templates for TSM Reports?

I just worked through the soul sucking task of installing TSM Monitoring & Reporting, and now that I got it configured and the DB2 data correctly communicating to the TIP reports, I have run into a few problems:

The Reports located at “TIP->Reporting->Common Reporting->Tivoli Products” are all in BIRT so when I try to open them with the included tools, I receive a error: "COG-BIRT This report cannot be viewed using Report Studio. Cause: Report Studio can only be used to edit Cognos Reports and not BIRT Reports"

Does anyone have any Templates for running similar reports that I can modify with the Report Studio? If I open the Report studio there arent any TSM specific templates available except the incompatible BIRT ones. and I am having extreme difficulty figuring out how to create a report from scratch.

I am looking for some very simple metrics like Storage Usage per Client node over a defined period, Hit/MIss/Fail numbers over a defined period etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    b. If the device is a tape drive, Backup Exec will match this string up with the sprers.eu file, located in C:\Program Files\veritas\Backup Exec\, to load the appropriate tape device driver.

    c. When comparing the inquiry string, as found in the sprers.eu, with the content of the Backup Exec Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), tsm report studio error, the firmware section of the string is not included in the information within the HCL and therefore should not be used as part of the confirmation of supported status.

    3. Secondary Inquiry: This will sometimes appear when the device can go by two different names. It is only used when the Primary Inquiry does not match with any devices listed either in the VSDLoadTable or the sprers.eu locations.

    4. Serial Number: This is the serial number that the robotic library and the tape drive present to Backup Exec, so we know how to distinguish the device from other similar devices. If the library doesn't have a serial number, Backup Exec will auto-generate a serial number for identification purposes. Such auto-generated serial numbers can be recognized by the fact that they are enclosed by < and > signs. An example of this line in sprers.eu is given below:

This library is actually supposed to be serialized, but in this case, tsm report studio error, it was not returning a serial number due to misconfiguration of the Storage Area Network (SAN) bridge for the library (MDR). Once it was configured correctly (SCC mode enabled), the loader started returning a valid serial number.

The following is an example of the serial number line from a library that is returning a valid serial number:

The alpha-numeric sequence, in this case, is the same serial number that would have been found in the library front panel if the serial number had been chosen to be displayed.

    5. Device Flags: The first value is an indication of the tsm report studio error of device that is attached to the bus, tsm report studio error. The second number is the type of serial number that the device is reporting.

6, tsm report studio error. Device State: This is the current status of the device. Listed below are the various statuses that the device can be in:

    a. 1 - Offline. This means that Backup Exec has lost communication with the device.

    b. 2 - Disabled. The device is currently disabled inside Backup Exec, tsm report studio error. To enable a device, open Backup Exec, right-click on the device, click on the Configuration tab, tsm report studio error select the Enable device for Backup Exec check box, tsm report studio error.

c, tsm report studio error. 3 - Online. The device is available and appears to be operating correctly.

    d. 7 - Paused. The device is paused. To resume the device, tsm report studio error, open Backup Exec, right-click on the device, and tsm report studio error Pause to clear the check box beside this option.

    7. Device IDs: The first number is the key for this device, which has been found in the database. The second number is the device's Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) within the database.

    8. Device Name: This is the name that the user has given to this device, within Backup Exec, under the Devices section.

    9. Device Type: The first number is the drive type, tsm report studio error. The second part of this line contains the following:

    a. For tape device:  The type of media that the device uses, and the current settings for the device. In this example, tsm report studio error, the tape drive uses 4mm cartridges. The block size is 8 kilobytes (KB), the buffer size is 32 KB, the buffer count is 10, and the high water count is 7.

    b. For medium changers: This will state that it is a CHANGER device, and FS=0 or FS=1, tsm report studio error. FS stands for First Slot, tsm report studio error.

Device Element: This value only shows up tsm report studio error tape devices. The device element is used to determine what library the tape drive belongs to. The first number can be matched up with the Device ID of the tape library. The second number is the Drive Element within the library, tsm report studio error.

Drive Element: This value only shows up for medium changer devices, tsm report studio error. This value is what the tape library recognizes as what tape drives belong to it. The first number is a unique identifier, which enables Backup Exec to keep track of the device in the database. The second number is the serial number of the tape device.

First Slot Number: This value only shows up for medium changer devices. This is how Backup Exec will start numbering the slots within the tape library.

Number tsm report studio error Slots: This value only shows up for medium changer devices. This is the number of slots that the medium changer reports to have. This number may appear to have one less than what the library was advertised to error 3194 tinyumbrella. This happens because within the library control panel, one slot was dedicated to a cleaning tape, and this slot will not be reported to Backup Exec (the library has 20 slots, but only 19 show up in Backup Exec), tsm report studio error.

If there were any errors logged by the Device and Media Service, either with communicating with the tape drive or with the status of jobs, those errors may be logged in here. Listed below are the common errors error hard disk smart command failed within sprers.eu

Control

Hi StevensWylie,

Welcome to Microsoft Tsm report studio error error is related to privileges of the user account. The error occurs if -
The SYSTEM group does not have Full Control privileges or The Everyone group does not have Full Control privileges.

Refer to the Microsoft article for more details, tsm report studio error.

  7. Now select User/group and click terror national front here we go and ok.

Thus, tsm report studio error, the problem is in removing the old version of Quicken, which can be done later.

Lots of reference to ms forum which says to simply change ownership/access control, which is all well and good if you can do tsm report studio error, which is typically not able (thus the original problem). This new windows 7 home premium (bit) pc came preloaded with ms works, foxpro error handler I thought the original ownership was microsofts.  Thinking Tsm report studio error was smarter than the average bear, tsm report studio error, I opened control panel, programs and uninstalled ms works, as a hunchuninstalled fine, but still no access to change my single login admin to change folder permissions.  So I finally figured it out

Reboot into safe mode in any way possible (networking, prompt, etc).  Once in safe mode, go to the folder that is causing you the hassle, in my cmos settings wrong keyboard error it is listed above.  Once you are at the folder, right click and go to properties, get into the administrative folder for security and edit the permissions.  In safe mode I was able to take over full controls of all settings.  Click apply, then ok then close the folder.  Reboot normally, tsm report studio error, and you should (might!) have found the program now installs without the permission problem of your install folder.  Let me know if it works for you.

I've found another solution wich will fix the mentioned security permission while maintaining the security access level by not letting everyone take full control over the folder.

just repeat Maghmala steps, but instead of adding [Everyone] account, just add [System] instead.

I figured out tsm report studio error fix while installing Visual Studio  Ultimate, the root directory of the installation folder didn't include the [System] account, and when I did, Boom, it's fixed :) .

Unfortunately your solution doesn't work for me.

This worked for me after 2hrs of struggle: Start the command prompt with admin rights and start sprers.eu from application error 1000 1c.
