I have downloaded the last java installation, have installed it like 10 times,and it is supposed to have a java control center or icon under the macOS settings menu, but there is no such thing, so I think that java is not installing after all, or any suggestions?

Java is required to run Minecraft modpacks. If you don't have Java installed on your system, you will likely receive the following Windows system message when trying to launch modpacks:

Please follow these steps to install the latest Java version:

  • Reinstalling the Launcher ▾

    To reinstall the launcher, open the menu to your right and select 'Repair installation'. Then, try to launch a modpack again.

    If the error "CMD configuration may be causing issues" shows up, it means that CurseForge cannot access the Command Prompt file (C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe) in your system.

    If the file has been modified, or its name has been changed - please restore it to its original state and try to launch your modpacks again.
    If you can run the Command Prompt but it closes as soon as it starts - that could indicate a return without gosub error due to malware. To fix the corruption, you can follow the steps in this guide, but please note that it should be done very carefully as it requires you to handle your system's registry.


 


Invalid Modding Folder Path ▾

If you've come across an error where trying to set a modding folder, please make sure you did not select a path that is invalid, for example:

  • The desktop or a folder within the desktop
  • A OneDrive folder, or any folder within the OneDrive directory
  • The Vanilla Minecraft directory (C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\)
  • A path that contains non-English letters
  • A root folder (C:\, D:\, etc.), as in - the first 513 error avaya top-most directory in a hierarchy


If you're not sure which directory to select, we recommend keeping the default path suggested by the app - C:\Users\[user]\curseforge\, there was an error opening minecraft.jar, or there was an error opening minecraft.jar a new folder outside of the C:\Users directory, like C:\CurseForge or D:\CurseForge and selecting that.

  3. Select 'Properties'
  4. Go to the 'Compatibility' tab
  5. The box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' should be unchecked

  6. Once you uncheck the box, click 'Apple' and restart Overwolf.
  7. Launch CurseForge and try to launch a modpack.

How to fix the JNI Error in Java Edition when setting up a Minecraft Server

As many fans are aware, there was an error opening minecraft.jar, Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update was recently released. This highly anticipated update contained a myriad of new features, including new mobs, blocks, items, and achievements.

Unlike previous versions, Minecraft server software now relies on the latest version of Java (Java 16) in order to function correctly. The problem can occur if you want to call a .jar file via command line (Windows CMD), e.g. via the command or if you have compiled your program with Eclipse before.

To fix the error, you need to adjust the environment variables for Java.

  • To do this, type “environment variable” in your Windows search and open the “Edit System Environment Variables” item. In this window you click on “Environment variables…”.

  • The “Environment variables” window opens. There you select the variable “Path” in the lower window “System variables” error in parsing xml click on “Edit…”.

  • There you look for the line where the installation path of your Java JDK is stored. In my case this is under C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-13.0.1\bin.

If you don’t have a Java JDK installed yet, there was an error opening minecraft.jar, you can download and install the .exe installation file (“x64 Installer”) here.

  • If you do not have this entry, you can add it by clicking the “New” button.

  • Select the line with the Java JDK and click on “Move up” until the entry is at the top. Done!
  • Now you have to close and reopen the Windows-CMD once and the error should be fixed.

JNI Error when starting a Minecraft Server

If you try to start your Minecraft server via the official server.jar (error occurs since version 1.17), you may get this error message:

This error message can also appear when launching the Minecraft TLauncher.

  • Right-click on the downloaded file and click “Extract here”.
  • Copy the unzipped folder to the directory C:\Program Files\Java
  • Launch your Minecraft TLauncher and click on the gear in the bottom right corner
  • Click at “Java path” on “Browse…” and choose C:\Program Files\Java\jdkX\bin\javaw.exe (replace the X by the name of your JDK folder).
  • Save everything – now the game should start again

Java JNI error message still appears?

  • Restart your computer
  • Uninstall old Java versions under Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and install the latest Java JRE and Java SDK.
