Sql error no database selected heidisql - can not

You found this page most likely because you run Joomla 3.0 and you’re getting an error on your website that is database related (joomla 2.5 database errors can be found here). We want to help you resolve this issue. Let us first tell you how the Joomla database connection is supposed to work, and then we’ll try to help show you which issue is causing your problem.

How Database Connections Work in Joomla 3.0

It doesn’t matter if you’re running Joomla 1.0 or Joomla 3.0, the following principles apply:

1. Your Hosting Account2. Joomla’s configuration.php file
On your server, you must have:
1. A database configured
2. A database username and password
3. The database user must be allowed to access the database (IE. referred to as MySQL privileges)
Your Joomla configuration.php file must match your server settings. For example:
1. Your configuration.php file must have set the same database username and password that is set on your hosting account
2. Your configuration.php file must have the correct database server set. Most often it is localhost, but only your hosting provider can tell you the correct answer.

If your hosting account is not setup properly with a database, or, if your Joomla configuration file is not setup with those same credentials that are setup on your host, you’re going to get error messages. In this Joomla 3.0 tutorial, we are going to purposely break Joomla 3.0 and show you the error messages that result.

Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error

Problem:
The following issues caused this error message to appear:

  • The database username in our configuration.php file does not match that of what is configured on our hosting account
  • The database password in our configuration.php file does not match what of what is configured on our hosting account
  • The database hostname in our configuration.php file could not be connected to

Solution:
In your Joomla configuration.php file, ensure that your database username, password, and hostname match what is set / provided by your host. They will be defined in the following variables in your configuration.php file:

// database username goes here
public $user = 'database-username';
// database password goes here
public $password = 'database-password';
// database server name
public $host = 'localhost';

Fixing “No Database selected” error during the SQL file import

Stuck with “No Database selected” error during the SQL file import? Our Support Engineers are here with an easy solution.

At Bobcares, we offer solutions to problems like these as a part of our Server Management Services. Let’s find out what our Support Team recommends when faced with “No Database selected” error during the SQL file import.

Resolving “No Database selected” error during the SQL file import

As the error name suggests, the reason behind the error is not selecting a database before importing the SQL file. Our Support Engineers offer five different ways to resolve this error. Let’s take a look at each of these solutions.

Solution 1

  1. First, use the command below to mention the name of the database before creating the table: USE database_name;
  2. In case, the database does not exist, create a new one with the command below: CREATE DATABASE database_name;

    Then use the database with the command mentioned in the previous step.

Solution 2
You can also select the database to be used with the following command:

mysql -u example_user -p --database=work < ./work.sql

Solution 3
If you are using MySQL workbench, our Support Engineers recommend these steps:

  1. First, navigate to the welcome window’s left pane and go to Object Browser.
  2. Then, select a database from the drop-down list.
  3. After that, navigate to SQL Development in the Workbench splash screen and click Manage Connections.

Solution 4
If you have an SQL database file, you can also import it to PhpMyAdmin and resolve the “No Database selected” error during the SQL file import as seen below:

  1. First, ensure that you already have a new MySQL database on Live Site.
  2. After that, go to phpMyAdmin on the live site and log in to the database.
  3. Next, select the database from the list.
  4. Then, click Import from the top bar.
  5. After that, click the Browse button located near the
  6. Then, browse and locate the local SQL file and click Open. Remember to unzip of first if it is a zipped file.
  7. Next, choose SQL as the format and click Go.
  8. You will have to wait for a few minutes, depending on the size of the database.

Our Support Engineers would like to remind you that the created database needs to have the same name as mentioned in the file.

Solution 5
This solution involves importing the database only after creating it.

  1. First, use MySQL phpMyAdmin and create a new database.
  2. Then, use the database by running the following command: use database_name

Sorry for the problems with the database import. You will need to see why the data is not importing. It’s possible that the data does not match the old location to the new. There may also be corrupt data causing the import to fail. You will need to look at the import and see if there are errors occurring during the import process.

To import a database from a .sql dump file, connect to your new database using HeidiSQL. Select your database, and then then from the TOOLS menu , select " Load SQL file… This will load your .sql file into the top window.

Connect to a specific MySQL database on the command line. Dump the database to self contained file or to a project directory. 2. Connect to a specific database using MySQL Workbench. 3. Confirm that you are working with the desired database. 4. Attempt an import from the previously exported files into the database you are working with.

Mysql no database

If you try to drop a database that does not exist, MySQL will issue an error. To prevent an error from occurring if you delete a database that does not exist, you can use the IF EXISTS option. In this case, MySQL terminates the statement without issuing any error. The DROP DATABASE statement returns the number of tables that were deleted.

If you connect to a MySQL Server via the MySQL Workbench application, you can select a database when you create the database connection as shown in the screenshot below: Once you logged in, you can select another database by issuing the USE statement or use the Set As Default Schema feature provided by MySQL Workbench.

To create a new database in MySQL, you use the CREATE DATABASE statement with the following syntax: CREATE DATABASE [ IF NOT EXISTS] database_name [ CHARACTER SET charset_name] [ COLLATE collation_name] First, specify the database_name following the CREATE DATABASE clause. The database name must be unique within the MySQL server instance.

In the upper-right corner of the AWS Management Console, choose the AWS Region in which you created the Aurora Serverless DB clusters that you want to query. In the navigation pane, choose Databases .

Or, run the following query to retrieve the same result set: SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.PROCESSLIST Note: Your user account must be granted the administration privilege for the MySQL PROCESS server to see all the threads running on an instance of MySQL.

When you create you create your RDS instance, there is an “Additional configuration” section, in which you can specify the database name, and it warns you that if no name is provided, no database will be created by default.

Use the SQL Query editor to write an SQL query—written in the dialect of the RDS database. The query can be as simple as SELECT * FROM tablename Where possible, it should be a simple SELECT query. JDBC Options: Parameter: A JDBC parameter supported by the database driver.

Navigate to a query editor and query the SQL Server table. You should be able to see all those records in the table as shown below. In this way, we can use AWS Glue ETL jobs to load data into Amazon RDS SQL Server database tables.

Open the Amazon RDS console, and then choose Databases from the navigation pane. Choose the instance that you want to associate with the DB parameter group, and then choose Modify. From the Database options section, choose the DB parameter group that you want to associate with the DB instance.

I was only able to give my user access by opening mysql.user and changing the value in "select_priviledge" to Y. From mysql> while logged is as the root user Grant Select, delete insert, update on SalesDB.* to 'www'@'localhost'; didn't seem to have an affect on the PHP page or in the mysql.user table.

A little fix (mysql Server version: 5.7.5-m15 - MySQL Community Server): both from phpmyadmin as well as mysql command prompt - UPDATE mysql.user SET Host = 'localhost' WHERE user. Host = '%' AND user .

The update operation is not possible because it is not possible to determine what records were excluded as duplicates, and therefore not possible to update all the necessary records. This restriction applies whether you use an update query or try to update data manually by entering values in a form or a datasheet.

This step helps select or enter a specific database (mysql) out of the listed. Step 6: mysql>show tables; This helps list the default or created tables for the selected database.

MariaDB Error Codes

MariaDB shares error codes with MySQL, as well as adding a number of new error codes specific to MariaDB.

An example of an error code is as follows:

SELECT * FROM x; ERROR 1046 (3D000): No database selected

There are three pieces of information returned in an error:

  • A numeric error code, in this case . Error codes from 1900 and up are specific to MariaDB, while error codes from 1000 to 1800 are shared by MySQL and MariaDB.
  • An SQLSTATE value, consisting of five characters, in this case . These codes are standard to ODBC and ANSI SQL. When MariaDB cannot allocate a standard SQLSTATE code, a generic , or general error, is used.
  • A string describing the error, in this case .

New error codes are being continually being added as new features are added. For a definitive list, see the file , as well as in the build directory, generated by the tool. Also, the perror tool can be used to get the error message which is associated with a given error code.

"1044 - Access Denied" Error when Importing a MySQL/MariaDB Database

For Web Hosting packages

In the IONOS web hosting packages, the use of the MySQL commands CREATE DATABASE %DatabaseName% and USE %DatabaseName% are blocked for you for administrative reasons. Imports of SQL files that contain these commands fail with error 1044 - Access denied. To import a database nevertheless, for example to change the MySQL version, follow the steps below.

  • Make a backup copy of the SQL file you want to import.
  • Open the SQL file with a text editor, such as Notepad++.
  • Search for strings that are CREATE DATABASE %Database name% or USE %Database name%. %DatabaseName% is a placeholder for the actual database name in your SQL file.
  • Delete these commands. Be careful not to inadvertently remove other statements.
  • Save your changes.

How to import the cleaned SQL file into a database is described in the article Restoring a MySQL Database with phpMyAdmin.

The following extract from an SQL file contains the CREATE DATABASE command in line 11 and the USE command in line 12. Since there are no other commands in either line, you can delete these lines completely.

Fixing Error #1046 - No Database Selected

HeidiSQL vs MySQL

It sounds like a server-client relationship (central database) and while SQLite is probably the simplest, note that its performance is probably the worst of the top 20 or so choices error detecting device have. It is different from Firebase and MySQL (and most other databases) in that it is embedded in the product, although it could be embedded in your server itself.

MySQL would require a separate MySQL db server, which means either two servers (one for MySQL, and one to provide your specific services to your client app) or both running on a single server machine. There are many alternatives in the same category as MySQL, and a choice of relational databases or document (NoSQL) databases. But architecturally, they are in the same category as MySQL, a separate db server that your application server would get its data from.

Firebase is different yet again, in that it is a service that is already hosted by a company, providing many integrated features such as authentication and storage of user account info. However it does take care of many of the concerns with running a server, such as performance, scalability and management. There are some negatives that you should be aware of though: any investment of time and coding with Firebase is pretty much non-portable, in that you are stuck with Firebase going forward. If you needed to switch to a different service, not only would it be a different API, but it would be a different architecture and much of your coding would need to be discarded. Second, it's owned and run by Google now, so you have a large corporation backing it, but that also means windows phone 7.5 me returned temporary error could decide to discontinue it without any real effect on the Google bottom line. Also some folks would have concerns with storing data on Google servers. That said, I think if you are aware of these in advance, and especially if you are a high school student, that Firebase is a fairly easy winner here. The server is already set up for you, the documentation is very complete and rich, with lots of examples, and Google is not going away. The main concern would be if it really is massive, there could be a rising cost to the service. I suspect though that it is not massive, sql error no database selected heidisql, even if everyone in a school used it. The number of concurrent connections would not be huge (probably not even into the hundreds, even if there are thousands of users).

I'd go with Firebase even though you will need to learn their API, sql error no database selected heidisql, because sql error no database selected heidisql need to learn something one way or another. SQLite is a bit of a toy database, and MySQL is a real one but you (or someone) would need to manage that server on top of needing to develop the server and client app. With Firebase, much of the server already exists, including a professionally hosted database. There are tons of high-level features provided and initial cost is somewhere between very low and zero.

Part of this is dependent on what language you want to write this in. Javascript for a cross-platform client app (I'd use Vue.js + Vuetify for UI, and provide it as a web app and optionally wrap that with Electron for a desktop app, Apache Cordova for mobile). Server could be Javascript with an Express-based REST API on Node.js, talking to Firebase for services.

If you were a Java developer though, all this goes out the window and I'd recommend a simple Java server with Javalin for REST API, and embedded ObjectDB for database storage (combined into one server). ObjectDB is very very fast and can be separated out into a scalable server if this became truly massive. But you would probably never need to go that far.

All of this is a lot of work. I hope this isn't for something like an assignment. It is in the order of 6 months of work if you know what you're doing, all year if you're learning as you go.

13.2.10.1 SELECT . INTO Statement

The form of enables a query result to be stored in variables or written to a file:

  • selects column values and stores them into variables.

  • writes the selected rows to a file. Column and line terminators can be specified to produce a specific output format.

  • writes a single row to a file without any formatting.

A given statement can contain at most one clause, although as shown by the syntax description (see Section 13.2.10, “SELECT Statement”), the can appear in different positions:

  • Before. Example:

  • Before a trailing locking clause. Example:

  • At the end of the. Example:

The position at the end of the statement is supported as of MySQL 8.0.20, and is the preferred position. perl oracle eval catch error The position before a locking clause is deprecated as of MySQL 8.0.20; expect support for it to be removed in a future version of MySQL. In other words, after but not at the end of the produces a warning.

An clause should not be used in a nested because such a sql error no database selected heidisql must return its result to the outer context. There are also constraints on the use of within statements; see Section 13.2.10.3, “UNION Clause”.

For the variant: sql error no database selected heidisql names a list of one or more variables, each of which can be a user-defined variable, stored procedure or function parameter, or stored program local variable. (Within a prepared statement, only user-defined variables are permitted; see Section 13.6.4.2, “Local Variable Scope and Resolution”.)

  • The selected values are assigned to the variables. The number of variables must match the number of columns. The query should return a single row. If the query returns no rows, a warning with error code 1329 occurs (), and the variable values remain unchanged. If the query returns multiple rows, error 1172 occurs (). If it is possible that the statement may retrieve multiple rows, you can use to limit the result set to a single row. e1550 cusd error ira gsm

    An example of such a statement is shown here:

    You can also select values from a statement that generates a single row into a set of user variables. In this case, you must employ a table alias, and you must assign each value from the value list to a variable. Each of the two statements shown here is equivalent to :

    User variable names are not case-sensitive. See Section 9.4, “User-Defined Variables”.

    The form of writes the selected rows to a file. The file is created on the server host, so you must have the privilege to use this syntax. cannot be an existing file, which among other things prevents files such as and database tables from being modified. The sql error no database selected heidisql system variable controls the interpretation of the file name.

    The statement is intended to enable dumping a table to a text file on the server host. To create the resulting file on some other host, normally is unsuitable because there is no way to write a path to the file relative to the server host file system, unless the location of the file on the remote host can be accessed using a network-mapped path on the server host file system.

    Alternatively, if the MySQL client software is installed on the remote host, you can use a client command such as to generate the file on that host.

    is the complement ofsql error no database selected heidisql. Column values are written converted to the character set specified in the clause. If no such clause is present, values are dumped using the character set. In effect, there is no character set conversion. If a result set contains columns in several character sets, so is the output data file, and it may not be possible to reload the file correctly.

    The syntax for the part of the statement consists of the same and clauses that are used with the statement. For information about the and clauses, including their default values canon mp210 e5 error code permissible values, see Section 13.2.7, “LOAD DATA Statement”.

    controls how to write special characters. If the character is not empty, it is used when necessary to avoid ambiguity as a prefix that precedes following characters on output:

    The resulting file need not conform to SQL syntax, so nothing else need be escaped.

    If the character is empty, no characters are escaped and is output asnot. It is probably not a good idea to specify an empty escape character, particularly if field values in your data contain any of the characters in the list just given.

In this case, the ordering and number of rows can be controlled using and ; these clauses must precede. ancient war sparta error pixel and vertex supports the same as does and it is subject to the same restrictions on writing to the file system. An example of such a statement is shown here:

    Here is an example that produces a file in the comma-separated values (CSV) format used by many programs:
