Konica Minolta embedded application shows "Connecting to server"

This KB article relates to PaperCut MF, the edition of PaperCut that implements copier control, server connection error konica minolta.

Q When I press the on-screen “Login” button in the Konica Minolta embedded application, the device panel shows “Connecting to server” server connection error konica minolta an extended time. How can I fix this?

Please check the following:

  1. Is the device’s network connection functional?
  2. Is there a useful error message displayed in the PaperCut admin interface at “” (gray box)?
  3. Try switching off the device for 5 seconds and switching it on again. This may resolve some network connectivity issues.
  4. Can the device connect to the PaperCut server on port ? You may need to check routers and firewalls, including the Windows software firewall. A good way to test this is to telnet to the server’s IP address on port ().
  5. Check the manual of the PaperCut embedded application for Konica Minolta for requirements on certificate verification settings in the device’s web interface and verify that all these requirements have been met. In particular:
    • Check that Certificate Verification has been disabled in the Network → OpenAPI section (“Do not request”/”Do not confirm”).
    • Check that Certificate Verification in the Security section (on newer devices only) has been set to OFF.
  6. What is the IP address of the primary server? When starting the application server service, e.g. after a reboot or, in Windows, through Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > PaperCut Application Server, server connection error konica minolta, you will find a line like this in the log file :

The Konica Minolta device uses the primary IP address to contact the PaperCut server. If you want it to use another address, e.g. if you have multiple interfaces, please change the option “sprers.euk-address” in the Config Editor (Advanced), which you will find in the administrator web interface on the “Options” tab, under “Actions” on the left (not to be confused with the Config Editor on the “Devices” tab). Once changed, restart the application server for this to take effect.

  7. Does the device have the latest firmware installed? Connection problems may occur with older firmware versions on some devices. Please check with your Konica Minolta supplier for the version number of the latest firmware available and compare with what you find in the device’s web interface.
  8. Some customers have reported the situation improving when enabling the NTP server on the device. The relationship between NTP and the “Connecting to server …” problem is not entirely clear, however it is worth giving a try.
  9. Check whether other MFD embedded or server applications might be interfering with PaperCut, e.g. Konica’s own PageScope Enterprise Suite has been found to interfere even when deactivated.
  10. If none of the above helps, we recommend using Server connection error konica minolta to capture a network trace of packets transmitted by the MFD during the logon process. Make sure to capture from a PC on the same LAN segment as the MFD with no routers/switches in between. Send the trace as a PCAP file to support server connection error konica minolta help with diagnosing.

Konica Minolta scanner cannot send outgoing mail via SMTP. Can I decipher the correct settings without resorting to onsite IT visit?

I'm not the business network admin, and slightly over my head. Still I'd like to try to fix it.
Sorry if this is wrong forum if so, maybe you can redirect me.
We recently made some network changes, breaking functionality for the scanner.

First, is it possible I can figure out the various settings on my own or is it likely our IT people (who can be tough to reach) must provide them?

When I try to email scans, I get 2 different errors.
My email: error (Server connection error)
Coworker email: error (authentication error)

Does the first error indicate the server can't even be found?
That it finds it but can't communicate with it (wrong port?)

I have no idea what authentication the server required, if any.
Or whether it used SSL, TLS, etc. I suspect TLS.
I believe our email server is Exchange

I can login to the scanner's web interface as an admin, and view settings.

Scanner current settings

Here's what I've determined so far.

• I think our smtp server and port setting are correct.
I can telnet into the server on port and get a welcome message like
"Microsoft ESMTP Mail Service Ready" and I can issue some commands.

• I can send unmatched data error volume limit 83 from my work email address. If I access my email through the outlook web interface, I can go to settings, and then view some email server settings for POP, SMPT, and IMAP. This is where I'm getting the outgoing server, protocol, and port.

• My other reason for suspecting TLS protocol is, that was already plugged in there.
I've also tried disabling SSL/TLS.

• I've tried SMTP authentication both on and off, server connection error konica minolta. The user ID (not shown in pic)
matched the admin email. Is that typical?

• I am fairly sure admin email is correct. Not so sure on device email.
Is it possible to figure out the device's email from its web interface?

• We had no security certificate (I think?). I tried creating one just to see if it helped,
but then the browser kept giving me a certificate security error when I accessed settings.
So I removed it.

• Googling for similar problems, one guy suggested updating firmware and disabling TLS and SSL protocols, only leaving TLS intact. I didn't update firmware yet, not sure how. But I did try disabling those other protocols.

Does anyone see anything wrong or unusual in the settings, or maybe you can tell me if getting two different errors indicates a specific issue? Maybe some way I can test in telnet? Most commands that I googled for sending test emails via telnet, server connection error konica minolta, didn't work.

Hi. I'm Brian, an Independent Advisor.

If these are your actual settings, then you've misspelled the server name. It starts with "smtp", not "smto".

What is the meaning of "SMTP server address checked off"? does this mean you have a check box labeled "SMTP server address" and that it's unchecked? If you're doing scan to email, you need the printer to be aware of the SMTP server and if you've unchecked a box that tells it to use a particular server, it won't be able to send the scan.

Do you receive any errors when you attempt to scan a document? Also, in order to use Microsoft's Office SMTP server, you need to specify a username and password for the printer to use to log into the server. Have you done that?

Konica Minolta embedded application shows "Connecting to server" (Troubleshooting)

What is the IP address of the primary server? When starting the application server service, e.g. after a reboot or, in Windows, through Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > PaperCut Application Server, you will find a line like this in the log file [app-path]/server/logs/sprers.eu:

# System details: max memory: MB, processors: 4, free space: 35, MB, hostname: myserver, IP addresses: [, ] (Primary: ), runtime: _b18, time-zone: Australia/Sydney, calendar: GregorianCalendar, locale: en_AU, encoding: UTF-8
