Hello,

I am using an Ubuntu Server LTS as an Apache reverse proxy. It had the OpenSSL version installed and I wanted to update to the current d as well.

For this I followed the following instructions:
sprers.eu

I have done the download etc. in the home directory of the user root

I just adjusted everything from a to d.
Everything went OK. At the end I made the one restart of the servers.

If I type "openssl version" now, I get the following error message:

openssl: relocation error: openssl: symbol EVP_mdc2 version OPENSSL_1_1_0 not defined in file sprers.eu with link time reference

What do I have to do to get the version and functionality displayed again?

Here still the output of

Debian: How to solve ln: relocation error?

I've had this problem before. What I did that seemed to fix the problem was turn up the gpu memory, which can be done this way this is the raspberry pi configuration (I am using raspberry pi os buster which is basically Debian 10) which can be found by clicking on the applications icon in the top left corner of the screen an going to preferences, and raspberry pi configuration, and then performance. Then go to GPU Memory, and raise it 25 to 50 numbers. It is something like that if you have a slightly different version of Debian.

There is a commandline way to do it as well. That is to enter

into a terminal window and scrolling to the bottom, where you will find:

this is overclocked, but look at the "gpu_mem" line, and raise about 25 to 50 numbers. then, hit Ctrl+x and then y and then enter.

Relocation Errors

The most common relocation error occurs when a symbol cannot be found. This condition results in an appropriate runtime linker error message together with the termination of the application. In the following example, the symbolwhich is referenced in the filecannot be located.

$ sprers.eu1 => ./sprers.eu1 sprers.eu1 => /lib/sprers.eu1 sprers.eu1 => ./sprers.eu1 sprers.eu2 => /lib/sprers.eu2 $ sprers.eu prog: fatal: relocation error: file ./sprers.eu \ symbol bar: referenced symbol not found $

During the link-edit of a dynamic executable, relocation error link time reference, any potential relocation errors of this sort are flagged as fatal undefined symbols. See Generating an Executable Output File for examples. However, a runtime relocation error can occur if a dependency located at runtime is incompatible with the original dependency referenced as part of the link-edit. In the previous example, was built against a version of the shared object that contained a symbol definition for .

The use of the option during a link-edit suppresses the validation of an objects runtime relocation requirements. This suppression can also lead to runtime relocation errors.

If a relocation error occurs relocation error link time reference a symbol used as an immediate reference cannot be found, the error condition occurs immediately during process initialization. With the default mode of lazy binding, if a symbol used as a lazy reference cannot be found, the error condition occurs after the application has gained control. This latter case can take minutes or months, or might never occur, depending on the execution paths exercised throughout the code.

To guard against errors of this kind, the relocation requirements of any dynamic executable or shared object can be validated using ldd(1).

When the option is specified with ldd(1), every dependency is printed and all immediate reference relocations are processed. If a reference cannot be resolved, a diagnostic message is produced. From the previous example, the option would result in the following error diagnostic.

$ sprers.eu1 => ./sprers.eu1 sprers.eu1 => /lib/sprers.eu1 sprers.eu1 => ./sprers.eu1 sprers.eu2 => /lib/sprers.eu2 symbol not found: bar (./sprers.eu1)

When the option is specified with ldd(1), all immediate reference and lazy reference relocations are processed. If either type of relocation cannot be resolved, a diagnostic message is produced.

relocation error: symbol pthread_sigmask version GLIBC_ not defined in file sprers.eu6 with link time reference #

It seems that the problem might be related more to dynamically loaded libraries and incorrect symbol mapping to library from zig side.

Minimal reproducible c code example in debian jessie:
file compiled by running:

#define_GNU_SOURCE #include<dlfcn.h>intmain() { void *lib = dlopen("./sprers.eu", RTLD_LAZY); void (*exported_func)(void); exported_func = (void (*)(void))dlsym(lib, "exported_func"); exported_func(); return0; }

compiled into by running the following commands:

zig cc --target=x86_linux-gnu -c -Wall -Werror -fpic sharedlib.c -o sharedlib.o zig cc -shared -o sprers.eu sharedlib.o -lpthread

It seems that zig maps pthread_sigmask to library in sprers.eun_r section, but this symbol is still in in glibc I assume that this sprers.eu file is used to map turbo debugger ntvdm error to specific libraries, because once I change this line to then correctly maps to and relocation error is gone:

I assume that this edge case where a symbol can move between libraries might be overlooked and would need to be fixed by either having a separate file for each glibc version or by introducing some versioning where there might be 2 lines for symbols like with something like where is the last version where symbol is in that library. So when choosing specific glibc target version, correct symbol relocation error link time reference mapping would be used.

openssl: relocation error: openssl: symbol EVP_mdc2 version OPENSSL_1_1_0 not defined in file sprers.eu with link time reference #

Hello,

I am using an Ubuntu Server LTS as an Apache reverse proxy, relocation error link time reference.

Here still the output of
perl sprers.eu --dump

I'm not a linux pro now and with Openssl I'm also more rudimentary on the road, relocation error link time reference. Please just send me the commands which I have to type in, so that this is OK again.

Thanks a lot

relocation error link time reference
