Nmi channel check iochk error - well

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Issue

  • The following message is seen on the console

Resolution

  • Use vendor hardware diagnostics software to analyse system health.

  • Contact the hardware manufacturer for further assistance.

  • Under RHEL6, the sysctl can be set to have the system panic when an I/O NMI is received. Refer to How to set sysctl variables on Red Hat Enterprise Linux? for details.

Root Cause

  • Under x86_64, I/O port (System Control Port B) holds the reason of an NMI (NonMaskable Interrupt).
  • For a detailed description of NMIs, refer e.g. to the Intel® 64 and IA Architectures Software Developer’s Manual Volume 3A: System Programming Guide, Part 1.

  • An NMI is a hardware-driven interrupt and it is usually reserved to report serious hardware errors, to a CPU.

  • In the event of an NMI it is possible to consult the aforementioned port to obtain an indication of what caused the error.

  • In the function we see why is called and consequently why the message is displayed on the console:

  • As illustrated above, when the bit () is set, it reports that an I/O Channel Check error (IOCHK) has occurred.
    • Parity and uncorrectable hardware errors are examples of why an IOCHK error could be raised.
    • Most hardware errors should however be reported through the MCE (Machine Check Exception) mechanism. An MCE indicates that the CPU detected an internal machine error or a bus error, or that an external agent detected a bus error. Normally the hardware manufacturer will be able to provide further details.

Diagnostic Steps

  • Check and output to figure out the cause of the NMI

NMI: Channel Check / IOCHK

Satellite s laptop will not boot up from battery or power supply. The first time the error came up was in Sept. 06, since then it has been operating great. The first signs of trouble was the lcd screen display was garbled and you could correct the lcd display screen by moving it up or down.

Last week the laptop was hibernated and the next morning on boot-up:
1. Lcd display screen flashes on and off with white vertical 1 1/2 white strip on the right side.
2. Lcd display screen then fades out.
3. Power supply and battery are removed, and re-installed.
4. External monitor connected to laptop, rebooted Toshiba Screen came up, the hibernating screen came up then came to:

Two choices:

1. Delete Last Restore
2. Restart Computer

ADU Version

I'm finding this hard to understand but when I insert a 3rd HDD into my Microserver (GEN8) the RAID1 array becomes corrupted and shows as failed

Please could anyone confirm if this is a configuration issue and what maybe the cause?

1) 2 x 4TB HDDs (Slots 1&2) working RAID1 array

2) Insert a HDD into Slots 3 or 4 and the RAID1 array fails

3) HP Smart Storage Administrator shows "Logical Drive 2 has failed and cannot be used. All data on this logical drive has been lost"

3) 4TB HDD Mirror then becomes unavailable in Server R2

4) Both 2 x 4TBs still show as Online in the HP Smart Storage Administrator

I fully tested this by creating a new array, then installing a new HDDs. This problem seems to happen as soon as another HDD is inserted.

I've attached screenshots of the RAID status AFTER the additional HDD has been connected.

Does so within approximately 30 seconds 2 minutes of running on battery power.

The battery should t be worn, as I have little use, I even kept it out of the machine to avoid wear out that I almost never need to use the machine in a mobile context, i.e. There is a practically new battery! It's only in the past month (since I got wireless broadband) I used the battery at all.

Just to remind the laptop is totally stable on the sector and never blue no screening while tension in this way. The problem occurs only when powered by a battery. I flashed the Bios up to v v with no effect. The problem occurs with a completely new install from the CD ROM recovery and also when it is fully configured with XP SP2 and all the XP2 post updates.

  • IDE channel - check the State DMA/PIO

    Hello

I tried to check the DMA/PIO State of my system, but I couldn't find something that mentions primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager. From what I've read in various forums, it is the way to do it, and I also noticed that a few people could not find the ' primary/secondary way' thing as well. (but I could not find a solution to the issue)

My problem is that some USB ports (2 of 4) I used normally would slow when I transfer data to and from the external HARD drive. Now, I've been move to the other 2 USB ports, and I could see the difference in the rate of transfer. This has happened before with my XP system, but I was able to access the channel primary/secondary and turned them all to DMA, which is something that I can't do now with my other Vista system. So now I would really check on that, nmi channel check iochk error, and I need help to make

    My system:
Windows Vista (updated with all the Windows update)
Intel Core 2 Duo P GHz
    4 GB OF RAM
    nVidia GeForce GTX GB memory
    Realtek/Creative SoundBlaster
HARD drive (which is good, it's almost full, leaving about 20 GB of free space, but the problem that I mentioned above happened when I had still 60 GB of free space, as a few months ago)

It would be great if someone can help me to brighten my days here. I'm not a geek, but certainly not an illiterate as well.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi PC45.

In case you can't find primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager, you can try to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and check for ATA channel 0 or right-click on it and click Properties. Later, click on the tab for setting advance, check if you can see the status of the DMA mode.

Because you are connected to the USB and the data transfer rate is slow, and it works fine when connected to a different USB port, I suggest you to update the USB drivers on the motherboard manufacturer's website.

You can also navigate to the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers on your computer.

    sprers.eu ' t-work correctly

Also, if you have any security software installed on your computer, you can try to temporarily disable and check if the date transfer rate is better. If you find the security software, the origin of the problem, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if there is no parameter to be changed. Later, re-enable the security software.

I hope this helps. Let us know the status.

I m of HDD installed WinXP Home, on the second space 1/2 I m of HDD installed Linux Mandrake I installed m maximum drivers and utilities available for this model and the Win XP operating system from internet downloads.

I have a problem: laptop computer performance of AC power, the battery is normally charged (up to 2 1/2 hour to %), computer laptop, works normally, all ok, nmi channel check iochk error, great job. If but laptop running on battery power (cord is unplugged) and I have choices on 'Start-offer' (LILO) entry "Windows XP", after the full boot WinXP system for a few seconds (sometimes minutes) or the first move with the mouse, I get a black LCD screen with blue rectangle and white text:

    Hi Radek

First of all I must tell you that SP is super portable. It's the old but very good. And now, something about your problem. In my opinion some hardware component doesn't work properly and you must contact the Service partner. It is possible that you can it be long with power, but it may be worse use it long.

It is also possible that power electronic load do some problems. Like I said before, Service partner. They check your machine.

    Good luck!

  • TECRA battery problem

    Similar experiences to mine, please?

After using no not my Tecra for some time (about 3 months). He was once again the charger for more than 24 hours and I'm now done with the original problem, nmi channel check iochk error, I had the last time I used the Tecra, several months ago! The problem is, I think, only related to the tent to use it on battery, as follows:

At the start of the machine of 'cold', after passing the request of 'password' screen, it goes straight to a "small blue screen", which includes the message:

    Hardware malfunction

Call your provider of support material

    NMI: channel check / IOCHK

    The system stopped *.

A little more information, I found that I can actually 'blue screen' situation - turn off not having don't no need to remove it battery that I first thought - and if I get the power cable then everything starts up well and seems to work normally. If I then remove the power cable (leaving the laundry to run on battery only) the small blue screen and smart error hdd 3 message reappears.

Yet once which seems to indicate a battery problem, I guess?

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

    Hello

Windows may indicate a fundamental error messages only when material occurrence malfunction, so that the elimination of the errors can be difficult for equipment problems. Most of the problems of material step in connection with the motherboard, the main memory on a motherboard or adapter or the stamp on a motherboard or adapter.

On this path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. I don't know how old is the unit, but if the unit is still under warranty I advice you contact service partner chartered. I'm sure they can find what may be the cause of this problem.

    Hello

According to this Microsoft article sprers.eu, there is a hardware problem. In my opinion, nmi channel check iochk error, you will not be able to record only. Contact the service partner in your country and let check the device. If this continues with the new battery too, I presume that there is some problem with electronic power to the motherboard.

This message occurs only if the mobile PC is running on battery power, or in other cases too?

Windows can display only basic error messages in case of malfunctioning of the equipment, troubleshooting can be difficult. Most Centre of problems of equipment around the motherboard, the RAM on a motherboard or on an adapter, or memory cache on a motherboard or adapter.

    HARDWARE MALFUNCTION

    Good luck!

  • Ever had a blue screen pop up with a message like this?

    *** Hardware Malfunction

Call your hardware vendor for support

*** The system has halted ***

Windows makes this screen look something like this:

There are a couple of other specific errors that can sometimes pop up in these messages:

    • NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
    • NMI: Channel Check / IOCHK

Note: There are some other assorted specific errors you can get on this screen outside of the two above, however they're only possible if you're on a machine with an EISA bus.

As the message indicates, you've got a hardware problem of some sort. These screens are generated when your system encounters a Non Maskable Interrupt (NMI). The long and short of it is that NMIs are hardware interrupts which have to be serviced immediately. Windows has a concept of IRQ levels, or IRQLs. The highest IRQL is always serviced, preempting any lower level interrupts which are currently being serviced. The preemptive behavior here is called masking the interrupt. So, an NMI is an interrupt which must be serviced immediately. Generally you get an NMI when there's a major hardware fault that prevents the operating system from continuing.

Some systems allow you to trigger an NMI either via a physical switch on the machine, or via something like an iLO.

Identities and setting a new identity and then see if it works fine.  If Yes, then you can import the old identity.

Microserver GEN8 with Bi RAID sprers.eu is running Windows Server (fresh installation) installed using the HP smart software (so includes all the drivers etc)

Insert 3rd GB into the server

    HP_Smart_Storage_Admin_Insert_NEW_sprers.eu

Breaks RAID and shows the "failed logical drive" error message

Note: Both 2 x 4TB have not failed (they are fully working) only the logical drive shows errors (whichs means you can't view anything on the disk and doesn't show in Windows OS)

    HP_Smart_Storage_Admin_Failed_Logical_sprers.eu

Diagnostics report showing all data has been lost.

    HP_Smart_Storage_Admin_Diagnostics_sprers.eu

    Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start Identities and setting a new identity and then see if it works fine.  If Yes, then you can import the old identity.

  • When I open the Task Scheduler, I get a message error «an error has occurred for task realupgradelogontasks...» »

When I open the Task Scheduler, I get the following error message:

an error has occurred for the realupgradelogontasks task. error message: the specified account name is not valid. What this means and how do I get rid of the error message?

Windows 7 Home Edition Premium does not the local security policy. I didn't know that you have the version of the operating system.

However, the error you get for realupgradelogontasks is RealPlayer. You can uninstall RealPlayer and reinstall to see if that will remove from TaskScheduler option to update.

If this isn't the case, then check with RealPlayer for the taking in charge of this issue.

    Thank you

original title: why I can't email pictures

This is not answered my question

Yet you marked as the answer?  Make a new Outbox and sent items folder. One or two is maybe damaged.

Follow these steps for the Outbox and sent items after you move the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.
