Previously working, Max Payne 2 now refuses to start
So I've been able to play Max Payne 2 before on this PC. Nothing has changed hardware-wise with the PC, though a few nights ago I was forced to install the newest Windows update. I'm on Windows 10.

I used the hangup patch, widescreen fix, tried compatibility mode, renamed the install folder to one without spaces, reinstalled the game and tried all of these again; nothing works.

Whenever I start the game, I get a Visual C++ Runtime Error.

Here is an image of that error.[prnt.sc]

If anyone has a solution, or even an idea, that'd be awesome.

How to Fix Issues with KF2MFC.dll (Free Download)

KF2MFC.dll is considered a type of Dynamic Link Library (DLL) file. Dynamic Link Library files, like KF2MFC.dll, are essentially a "guide book" that stores information and instructions for executable (EXE) files - like Setup.exe - to follow. These files were created so that multiple programs (eg. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo) could share the same KF2MFC.dll file, saving valuable memory allocation, therefore making your computer run more efficiently.

Unfortunately, what makes DLL files so convenient and efficient, also makes them extremely vulnerable to problems. If something happens to a shared DLL file, either it goes missing or gets corrupted in some way, it can generate a "runtime" error message. Runtime is pretty self-explanatory; it means that these errors are triggered when KF2MFC.dll is attempted to be loaded either when Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo is starting up, or in some cases already running. Some of the most common KF2MFC.dll errors include:

  • Access Violation at address - KF2MFC.dll.
  • KF2MFC.dll could not be found.
  • Cannot find C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Max Payne 2 Demo\KF2MFC.dll.
  • Cannot register KF2MFC.dll.
  • Cannot start Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo. A required component is missing: KF2MFC.dll. Please install Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo again.
  • Failed to load KF2MFC.dll.
  • The application has failed to start because KF2MFC.dll was not found.
  • The file KF2MFC.dll is missing or corrupt.
  • This application failed to start because KF2MFC.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Your KF2MFC.dll file could be missing due to accidental deletion, uninstalled as a shared file of another program (shared with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo), or deleted by a malware infection. Furthermore, KF2MFC.dll file corruption could be caused from a power outage when loading Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne demo, system crash while loading KF2MFC.dll, bad sectors on your storage media (usually your primary hard drive), or quite commonly, a malware infection. Thus, it's critical to make sure your anti-virus is kept up-to-date and scanning regularly.

  • The four parameters that are inside the parentheses of the Stop error message vary according to the computer's configuration.

Cause

This problem may occur if the computer is infected with a variant of the HaxDoor virus.

The HaxDoor virus creates a hidden process. Additionally, the virus hides files and registry keys. The executable file name of the HaxDoor virus may vary, but the file name is frequently Mszx23.exe. Many variants of this virus put a driver that is named Vdmt16.sys or Vdnt32.sys on the computer. This driver is used to hide the virus process. The HaxDoor virus variants can restore these files if you delete them.

Resolution

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Hi Chochurah,

C++ errors are usually caused by a software or driver issues.

Maybe it's max payne2 c+ + runtime error program that you have running. Maybe it's the
new device or driver that you installed on your system. If you
recently installed printer drivers, chipset drivers(VIA especially),
or a new video card this could be the cause of your problem.

So, if you set your BIOS to 4X or 8X AGP recently or installed
new software or hardware, that should be your very first suspect.

1. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php

You can lookup what a program does before you disable it here:
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.php

2. Run a virus scan at: http://housecall.antivirus.com Afterwards
Download & Run Spybot from: http://security.kolla.de to find any
Trojans, Adware, or Spyware which could clog up your system.

3. Click My Computer / Rightclick the Drive & Choose Properties
/ Run the "Disk Cleanup." / Next Click the "Tools" Tab and run
the "Error-Checking" and "Defragmentation" utilities.

4. Go to the Windows Update site for everything under Critical and
