    Hello

Do the steps provided by Jessen P in your previous post worked?

    Refer to this link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/microsoft-visual-runtime-library-pops-up-when-i-try/2297c3ab-9824-46e7-8384-7915f981dd76

  • Cannot install the simple game (Fishdom) due to the run-time error 'asked to terminate in an unusual way.

I asked about Playrix, but they are completely clueless.  I bought Fishdom and downloaded.  When I go to install it, to the last window when he says 'launch Fishdom?' and I hit "Yes", it will not launch and I get the infamous runtime error:

    Runtime Visual C++ error library
The application requested to terminate the duration in an unusual way.
For more support, please contact administrators.

Maybe it's not the exact wording, but I know that everyone is familiar with this error message. There is no error message number to identify the problem.

I posted this under games even if my prob is perhaps not relevant to this forum.  If anyone has a suggestion of where to go, it would be very nice and I can re-post.

I've updated my graphic drivers, Update ActiveX, DirectX, restarted, and whenever I have it re-downloaded, not only do uninstall the version I tried to install, but I go to C/program/files/Playrix and delete anything there as well.  I don't have this in-between software - as a Playrix games - car Manager at least gives me a direct download link so I'll actually not through a distributor site.

I have XP SP3, use FireFox (current version), and my graphics driver is Express family Chipset 965 (which I think is a Ricoh or Intel product?).  It came with my Dell Inspiron 1520.  I have no other problems with anything on my computer and play frequently other simple match 3 games - online - on the MSN Games website.

I have Malwarebytes running in the background.  I also tried to disable the real-time protection and install and which did not help.

I really want this game, and anyone who can help me with this will have my eternal gratitude.  (A lot of promise, I know, but you'll be worth it).

Thank you to everyone who is addressing this.  I will try what you suggest!

    Hi Catsin,

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: I suggest that you try reinstalling from Visual C++ Runtime library.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=a7b7a05e-6de6-4D3A-A423-37bf0912db84

    Install the application and check.

If the method above does not work, proceed to the next method.

Method 2: Run the clean boot and try to install the application.

To do this, follow the steps in this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

If the previous step fails, then try to install the program in compatibility mode and check if it works.

Have you tried to use system restore to restore your system configuration?

Start menu > Accessories > system tools > system restore.

I hope you have some system restore points before the problem started happening. Follow the wizard for your anti-roll system back to one of these restore points.

System restore only modifies / restores the system configuration - this will not affect your personal files/data.

So if the problem started to arrive 2-3 days ago, come back to a point of restoration 4 days ago.

I don't use any anti-virus or anti-spyware, except Windows Defender.

I suspect that you see the effects of a hijackware infection. Since you have no applications installed virus protection (and, I suppose, you have not installed in Windows XP is), my recommendation is the following:

Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows XP.  (Because you upgraded from Windows XP to Win7, you can not do a clean install of Win7.) Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

"Microsoft Visual C Runtime Library, runtime error,

    Program C:\Program Explorer\iexplore.exe may

This application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way.

For more information, contact the application support team"

This type of error can be caused if the Visual C++ library runtime components are missing or because of a third-party software.

    Follow the steps below:

    Method 1:
If the problem is caused by the lack of Visual C++ libraries, you can download and install the Runtime components of Visual C++ libraries from the link below:

This error can occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.

Try it out below step to reinstall and repair installation of Microsoft .NET Framework on the computer, then check if you can install the software.

    (a) click the Start button, select Control Panel, click programs and then click on 'Turn Windows has or not.' If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (b) search for Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1 uncheck, click OK and restart the computer.

    (c) after the reboot, open again "Turn Windows features on or off" and place a check next to Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.1 and restart the computer.

    Step 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you manually download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 Redistributable Package and check to see if you can install the software.

In programs and features, you do not show that you have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable? If this is not the case, download the links here.

Running the library leads to this error:

    UnusualRuntime

    Root cause of problem:

This error is typically the result of a conflict between the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables libraries supplied with MATLAB, and those that are supplied by some third party applications.

    Solution to problem:

To revert to a previous version of the C++ Redistributable libraries, you should uninstall all versions of your current 2005 and 2008 C++ Redistributable libraries through your Windows Control Panel, and reboot you machine. You can then re-install them by running the MATLAB-provided installers which can be found in the following locations:

    For 32-bit Imatest:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime\v81\bin\win32\vc90\vcredist_x86.exe

    For 64-bit Imatest:

    C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime\v81\bin\win64\vc90\vcredist_x64.exe

Note: for older releaseses, a different matlab folder will be used, for example, v714 for releases 3.10 and below.

    Hello

    • What application you use to display pictures?

Try the SFC scan on the computer.

SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary.

Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows. In view of this, plus the fact that the SFC/scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should be usually one of your top not troubleshooting.

    Hi drhorn,

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Step 1: Perform a clean boot

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    ·         Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    ·         Click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility. Collapse this includes this image

    ·         If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

    ·         On the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    Hello

I'm building an appliction using LabView 8.2 with Report Generation Toolkit for MS Office V1.1.1 on a WinXP SP3 system without any error. When I try to compile a coresponding Installer, I got the following error message:

This application has requested the execution to terminate in an unusual way.

    Can someone help me?

    Hi Gunnar

First of all just save the contents of the disk on your computer. Then...

The local cache paths are stored in the registry keys.  You can change the registry in the following steps:

    1. Select start > run and enter regedit
    2. to create a backup copy of the registry, select file > export from the Registry Editor window
    3. make sure that the export range is set to all and back up the registry
    4. navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\Common\Installer\ProductCache, find the right key and change the path as necessary

    Hope this helps,

    1. c terminated in an unusual way

What is the cause of "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"?

There's a common error that gets thrown by the Visual C Runtime:

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

What does this error message actually mean?

Let me use a parable to explain exactly what i'm asking.

    If I see a message:

Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x702be865

This access violation has nothing to do with sexual harassment, or someone trying to break into my computer (any more than General Failure was a brigadier general who was trying to read my C drive, or that you could be hauled off to jail for performing an illegal operation in Windows 95).

In this case, access violation corresponds to the constant (declared in with value 0xC0000005). This constant one possible exception error code that can be returned in an structure. The code means that the program tried to read or write to an address in memory that it shouldn't be. If you try to read from a memory address that was never allocated, then you're doing something horribly bad - and the exception tells you so.

It is usually caused when a program has a pointer to memory that is not, or is no longer, valid. The solution is stop trying to access memory that isn't valid.

    Note: I'm not asking:

    • why is program x getting a C0000005 error?
    • why is my code getting an access violation?
    • how do I debug an access violation?

So if I asked you, what causes an access violation, you wouldn't tell me to check the stack trace, or watch the output window, or to post sample code. You would say, "It is from trying to access memory that isn't valid."

What does the following error mean:

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

I am (fairly) certain that the Microsoft Visual C Runtime library does not have a function:

So I have to try to figure out what it actually means:

    • What does it mean to terminate the visual C runtime library? (msvcrt is a dll; you don't terminate it, you just don't use it anymore)
    • What would be a usual way to terminate MSVCRT?
    • Would someone choose to terminate it in an unusual way?
    • Is today's unusual way actually a long since deprecated form of what used to be the usual way?
    • If I was (mistakenly) terminating it in an unusual way, what would I do to terminate it in the usual way?

In other words: what error is the MSVCRT catching, and hiding behind the uninformative error message?

As we all know Windows operating systems (OS) are shipped with some pre-installed Visual C++ Redistributable Package(s). The latest OS i.e. Windows 10 is shipped with Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. These packages are required to run the Desktop programs/apps created using Visual Studio, and more importantly when your machine doesn’t have Visual Studio installed.

Today, a strange this happened on my Windows 10 Pro system. While configuring some options in Settings app, I suddenly received this error message which is related to Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Here is the complete message:

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\SystemSettings.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application’s support team for more information.

FIX - This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way Windows 10

Here, clicking OK button doesn’t do anything, not even closing this error message. Also Settings app becomes unresponsive, on the other hand. As you can see in the above screenshot, the error message is only related to Settings app, which is an Universal App and baked into the OS. Hence, it is not possible uninstall this app and then re-install it. However, if you like, you can re-register all apps which will eventually re-register Settings app and see if it solves this issue. Here are the steps for it:

Re-register all apps in Windows 10

If re-registering didn’t solved this issue, you’ll then need to update or install latest Visual C++ Redistributable Package(s). Here is how:

FIX : This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way In Windows 10

    1. Press W8K + E to open File Explorer. In the left pane, click This PC. Now in the ribbon, click Uninstall or change a program.

FIX - This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way Windows 10

    2. Next, in the Uninstall or change a program screen, from the list of installed programs, look for Visual C++ Redistributable Package(s). Highlight them one-by-one and each time do a right click, select Uninstall. Close the window.

FIX - This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way Windows 10

    3. Use following links to download latest version of Visual C++ Redistributable Package(s) from Microsoft. Make sure you download an upgraded version as compared to the one you uninstalled above.

Download Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package

Download Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package

    Download Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package

    4. The download gives you an .exe file on which do a right click and select Run as administrator.

FIX - This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way Windows 10

    5. This will launch the setup and you’ve to accept license agreement first and then click Install.

FIX - This Application Has Requested The Runtime To Terminate It In An Unusual Way Windows 10

After few seconds, you’ll get Setup successful message. Click Close and restart your machine.

After rebooting the machine, the error will no longer appear.

I just used the "Repair" tool for the C++ installed software.  I did so "just in case " it might help.  It required a reboot so I did so.  Turns out that there was a large W10 update that got installed with the reboot.  I do not know if the C++ repair caused that.

The result of the above actions did not resolve the C++ error

    Fix around Works !

Immediately after a startup crash, deleting the Canon_Inc_IC folder in C:\ProgramData\ resolved the startup crash, not necessary to uninstall and reinstall DPP 4. Occasionally you may have to kill 'Digital Photo Professional 4' using the Windows Task Manager after a startup crash to ensure DPP 4 is not running in the background and then delete the aforementioned folder. ProgramData is a hidden folder, change viewing options to operate !

    HoriSas & Nick_897:

Thank You! I went through every step Nick described staring 2 days ago. I've spent hours with  Canon's live USA phone help, including a supervisor at an 'elevated' level. No help! Then hours searching this forum & Google. I'm thrilled to have finally found this thread!

    @HoriSas:

First, which Canon forum did you find this work around on? I certainly hope Canon Tech Support and the DPP4 design team read that forum!

Second, I had already uninstalled DPP4. I renamed the Canon_Inc_IC folder first by adding '_Disable' to the name. The Canon_Inc_IC folder reappeared upon the new install of DPP4. Have you closed and reopened DPP4 multiple times yet to confirm that deleting that folder continues to fix the issue or might the folder reappear? I'd try it myself but I've got an impending deadline to deliver some photos to a client.

I ask because you wrote, "Occasionally you may have to kill 'Digital Photo Professional 4' using the Windows Task Manager after a startup crash to ensure DPP 4 is not running in the background and then delete the aforementioned folder." Could you clarify that statement, please?

    Thanks Again!

I've updated my graphic drivers, Update ActiveX, DirectX, restarted, in unusal way error, and whenever I have it re-downloaded, not only do uninstall the version I tried to install, but I go to C/program/files/Playrix and delete anything there as well.

    Catsin
