It's worth checking your server's folders to see if there's a stray pom.xml hanging around.

I found that I had the problem everyone else described with a malformed pom.xml, but in a folder that I didn't expect to be on the server. An old build was sticking around unwelcome D:

The Hair And Fur modifier is the heart of the Hair And Fur feature. You apply it to any object that you want to grow hair from: either a mesh object or a spline object. If object is a mesh, the hair grows from the entire surface unless you make a sub-object selection. If the object is a spline, hair grows between the splines.

When you select an object modified by Hair And Fur, hair is displayed in viewports. The hair itself as displayed in the viewports is not selectable, though hair guides are selectable when you work at the Guides sub-object level or style hair (see below).

Note: Hair And Fur renders only in Perspective and Camera views. If you attempt to render an orthographic view, 3ds Max displays a warning that says the hair will not appear. hair and fur error create file

Hair And Fur renders by “tiles,” which are 2D projections of the 3D space that the hair or fur occupies. Each tile is displayed in the rendered frame window as soon as it is generated. Also, you can set the maximum memory that a tile uses at render time; see Hair And Fur Render Effect.

Hair And Fur can take advantage of multiple processors, improving rendering time on multiprocessor systems, hair and fur error create file.

Components of the Hair And Fur Feature

Hair And Fur in 3ds Max comprises several components:

  • The Hair And Fur modifier is the main component. This is where you style the hair guides, and set parameters for size and coloration, kinkiness, frizziness, and so on.
  • The Hair And Fur Render Effect controls more directly how hair is rendered. Typically you don't need to change the render effect parameters, unless you have special rendering requirements.

A Hair And Fur render effect is automatically added to your scene when you apply the Hair And Fur modifier.

  • A Hair Light Attr(ibutes) Rollout appears for all supported lights when a Hair And Fur render effect is active using the scanline renderer, and the render effect's Use All Lights At Render Time toggle is turned on. Controls on this rollout let you fine-tune how hair shadows appear under specific lights.

The following light types are not supported when rendering hair with the “buffer” method (see “Lighting Considerations,” below): Skylight, mr Area Omni, mr Area Spot, IES Sun, IES Sky, mr Sky and mr Sun. However, mr Area Omni, mr Area Spot, mr Sky, and mr Sun are supported for hair when error logining intro develop center set the Hairs rendering option to “mr prim” and render.

Note: For the purposes hair and fur error create file rendering shadows in hair, Direct lights are treated as point (omni) lights.

  • The Hair And Fur Element is useful when you do post-render compositing.

Growth Objects

You can grow Hair either from a surface or from splines.

To grow hair from a surface, select the object and then apply the Hair And Fur modifier. You can use either geometric primitives or an editable surface type such as Polymesh.

To grow hair from splines, you can draw several splines and combine them into a single object (or turn off Start New Shape during creation), and then apply the Hair And Fur modifier. You will see some preview interpolated hairs appear in viewports. The order of the spline sub-objects is important because Hair uses this order to interpolate hair in between the splines. If the interpolation seems incoherent, you might need to physically rearrange the splines.

Using a spline emitter, Hair interpolates hair growth between pairs of splines in logical, numerical order.

Left: Splines in sequential order result in predictable hair growth.

Right: Splines in nonsequential order can produce undesirable results.

Tip: To check the numerical order of splines, go to the Editable Spline level of the modifier stack and access the Spline sub-object level. Then click each spline in turn and check its ID number at the bottom of the Selection rollout. It also can help to make sure that each spline's first vertex is where the hair roots should be.

Guide Hairs

Storing and manipulating millions of dynamic, simulated hairs is demanding on today’s technology. Therefore, just as standard 3D graphics technology uses boundaries such as surfaces to describe solid objects, Hair uses hair “guides” to describe basic hair shape and behavior.

Guides (yellow) occur at each polygon corner.

Hairs (red) are interpolated between guides, hair and fur error create file.

When the growth object is a surface, Hair And Fur generates guide hairs at the corners of polygons. When the growth object is a spline, the spline sub-objects are themselves the guides.

For surface-grown hair, you can manipulate the guides with styling tools to form a “control volume” that gets populated by interpolated hairs. The hairs can then be further manipulated with distorting controls such as Kink and Frizz, which can be driven by maps or solid textures.

Frizz settings affect the hairs but not the guides.

By default, a percentage of hairs are displayed in the viewports, but surface-grown guides do not appear except when you are working at the Guides sub-object level. You can adjust the viewport display of guides and hairs with settings on the Display rollout.

Guides are also used to calculate dynamics. After this calculation, hair interpolation takes place when you render. This is when parameters such as Frizz, as well as displacement and coloration, are calculated. You don't have control of every single hair, but this two-phase process makes the creation of realistic hair computationally feasible hair and fur error create file a typical computer.

Styling Hair

The Hair And Fur modifier's growth settings have a great effect on the hair’s appearance and behavior, but you can also manipulate the guides directly (or in other words, style the hair).

For surface-grown hair, use the tools on the Styling rollout. First, select the surface whose hair you want to edit, and then on the Modify panel, either click the Style Hair button on the Styling rollout or choose the Guides sub-object level from the Selection rollout or the modifier stack display.

After guides have been styled, hair is interpolated between neighboring guide pairs.

Mesh-based hair guides before and after styling.

With spline growth, you style the hair by editing the growth splines in the viewports.

Style spline-based hair by manipulating the splines.

Copying and Pasting Hair

You can copy and paste a Hair And Fur modifier from one stack to another, but you need to line up the objects as closely as possible, because Hair uses proximity to determine how to position copied guides. If the objects have significantly different geometry, the transfer of guides can be inaccurate.

Copying and pasting the Hair And Fur modifier automatically adjusts the hair scaling. Copying from a large object to a small object, hair and fur error create file, for instance, results in a smaller default size in the copied modifier, hair and fur error create file. hair and fur error create file you copy an object that has Hair And Fur in its modifier stack, Hair will also copy the modifier’s data to a new modifier that will track the new object.

Textures, Vertex Maps, and Shaders

You can control many Hair And Fur modifier parameters with maps. If you apply a map to a parameter that is not a color, such as Density, Hair uses the texture as a grayscale map that is multiplied by the parameter value (0.0 to 100.0).

You apply a map by clicking the square button to the right of the parameter. After applying a map, the letter “M” appears on the button. To place this map in the first slot in the Material Editor, +click the button. To disable the map temporarily, +click the button. A disabled map is indicated by a lower-case “m”.

Lighting Considerations

When you render using the default “buffer” method, Hair And Fur provides its own default lighting (a single omni light), unless you have one or more supported lights in the scene.

Supported lights for the scanline renderer and “buffer” method include spotlights, omni lights, direct lights (which are treated as omni lights for hair purposes), and photometric lights except for IES Sun and IES Sky. Supported lights for the “mr prim” method include the lights supported by the scanline renderer, and these light types: mr Area Omni Light, mr Area Spotlight, mr Sky, and mr Sun.

If supported lights exist in the scene, by default they are used to light the hair, and the internal default omni light is not used. This is because in the Hair And Fur Render Effect, the Use All Lights At Render Time option is on by default. Also, any supported lights set to cast shadow-mapped shadows will cast shadows from rendered hair.

For Hair’s “buffer” render to consider only certain lights, select the lights you’d like Hair to use, go to the Hair And Fur render effect, turn off Use All Lights At Render Time, and then click Add Hair Properties. This causes only the designated lights to illuminate the hair. It also adds a Hair Light Attr(ibutes) Rollout to each of the designated lights. This lets you fine-tune the light's shadow settings for Hair.

With the “buffer” method, you can also raytrace your scene.

Note: The other rendering methods provided are “geometry” and “mr prim.” The “geometry” method creates actual geometry for the rendered hair at render time. The “mr prim” method uses a shader to generate hair. Use the Hair And Fur render effect to choose the rendering method.

Loading and Saving

Hair And Fur data in your scene is automatically saved when you save your MAX scene file. The state data for the hair can consume quite a bit of space, so your scene file will probably be significantly larger than it was before you applied hair, hair and fur error create file.

Animating Hair

You cannot keyframe hair styling. You can keyframe Modify panel parameters to create special effects such as hair growing. But to animate hair motion, you can use the Frizz Animation parameters or use dynamics.

To animate frizz, use the Frizz Anim., Anim. Speed, and Frizz Anim. Dir. parameters. It's not necessary to keyframe these to create animation; just set them to values other than the defaults.

To animate with dynamics, use the Dynamics rollout. See To generate a precomputed dynamics simulation with Hair. A gravity force is built in to Hair And Fur. You can add space warps to act as external forces (for example, Wind).

Procedures

To use the Hair And Fur modifier:

This procedure lists the essential steps for growing hair on an object. For more information, see other Hair And Fur topics in this help.

  1. Apply the Hair And Fur modifier to a mesh or spline object.

The hairs appear in the viewports as brown lines.

  2. Set the modifier parameters according to the desired results (see Topics in this Section, following). Available settings include the number of hairs, length, thickness, and coloring.
  3. Activate a Perspective or Camera viewport, and then render the scene.

Hair cannot render in an orthographic viewport.

To apply hair to a limited area of a high-resolution object:

An efficient working method for applying hair to part of a high-poly-count object is to use a low-poly proxy object.

  1. Create the object to which you wish to apply hair.
  2. Make a copy of the object in the same location as the original, hair and fur error create file, remove any geometry where hair shouldn't grow, and reduce the polygon count, hair and fur error create file. For example, you could use the Hair and fur error create file modifier.
  3. If the original object is to move, make the low-resolution proxy object a child of the original object.
  4. Apply the Hair And Fur modifier to the low-resolution proxy object and adjust as necessary.
  5. Make the low-resolution proxy object non-renderable (see General Panel (Object Properties Dialog)). The hair will still render, hair and fur error create file.

Using Perforce as Source Control

Choose your operating system:

Unreal Engine (UE) comes with an integrated method that allows people to work together on their projects using version control software called Perforce. Source Control allows users on hair and fur error create file team to share assets and code with one another, as well as providing a backup and history of changes so any files can be rolled back to an earlier version if something went wrong with the file.

Workflow

In general and mostly for historical reasons, working with assets in the Unreal Editor follows the workflow of Perforce. Files known as Assets (extension .uasset and .umap) are mainly what the Editor works with. These files are binary, so cannot be opened as text or merged in a text-based merge tool. For this reason, when working on a file the Editor will lock that file (this is known as Checking Out in Perforce nomenclature) so that other users cannot concurrently edit it. When the user is done with editing the file(s) they have locked, they check in, or commit those files, uploading the changes to the server and releasing the lock on the file.

Using Perforce with UE4

Setting up a Perforce Server on your Local Machine

To avoid potential integration issues with our tools, such as UnrealGameSync, we recommend running a case-insensitive Perforce server.

There are two ways of running the Perforce server, P4D and P4S. P4D runs while an instance of the command line is running, so it is usually only used for spot-maintenance tasks. P4S is the service-based equivalent of P4D as it allows you to run the server in the background. The service is usually installed and started when you install the Perforce server tools.

Sometimes the service does not get run automatically. To turn the service on in Windows, first go into the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->Services applet. Then find the Perforce service in the list and start it:

Once the service is running, you can connect to your server using P4Admin. If this is the first connection to your server, then you can make a new user in the initial connection dialog:

Fill in the connection information for your Perforce server and press okay. Once you have connected to the server in P4Admin, hair and fur error create file, you can make new depots, users, and groups pretty easily. Use P4V and the Unreal Editor to connect to the server with the credentials you supplied in the initial connection dialog.

P4 Typemap

Before you start adding files to your depot, you should set up your P4 Typemap so Perforce knows how to treat Unreal file types. Setting the typemap will affect how files get set to read only or writable inside of Perforce. However to do this, you will need to open a new command prompt and set up some p4 environment variables.

Replace the values above with your respective username and connection address. Open the typemap by entering the following in the command prompt.

You will then see a text window open; this is your server's typemap. The typemap below is an example that we have used in the past:

Once edited, save the file by pressing Ctrl+S on your keyboard and then exit. The command prompt should then show Typemap saved.

Server on your Local Network

You can set up a server on your local network for people to use to collaborate with one another. To do this, follow the steps above on the server and connect using the server's name or IP from your clients.

Cloud Provider

There are various cloud providers that allow you to host Perforce servers off-site and to collaborate remotely. A quick search online for Perforce Hosting should turn up a few results. Each hosting provider is different, but all should end up with a set of credentials that you can use to connect. See also Connecting from Unreal Editor below for a note about connecting to Perforce cloud providers.

Setting up a Local Workspace

To work with files that are under Perforce control, you will need to set up a Workspace so that the files can be managed on your local machine. You can do this via P4V by opening up the Workspaces tab in the View dropdown:

To create a new workspace, hair and fur error create file, right-click in the Workspace window and select the New Workspace option. Then enter a name for your workspace and a location where you want the files to be on your local machine, the Workspace Root.

Once you have a server and a workspace, you will want to start adding files to it. For the moment, this needs to be done initially outside the Editor via P4V. If you already have a workspace that someone else has set up with some files already, you can skip ahead. When you create a new project, you can choose whether it incorporates C++ code and Blueprint elements. If you are using C++ code in your project, you will see a Source/ directory as well. You should initially add only the following directories of your project:

Folders and files highlighted in Green should be added to your depot. The Binaries folder in Yellow is optional, depending on how your team wants to work together. It is not required if every team member is going to compile their editor/game themselves, but should be included in the initial add if any team members will just be grabbing a version from the depot to create content. Note that the server typemap setup above should mean that coders can compile their binaries without them being set to be Read-Only by Perforce.

Adding Files to Perforce

Adding files to Perforce is something that can be accomplished in the few following steps.

  1. To error cde panasonic 3030 e03-01 files/folders to Perforce, first select the files/folders in P4V and then right-click and select the Mark For Add option.

  2. This will add the files to your default change list. All files that you add can be seen in the Pending change lists tab:

  3. To submit something, first right-click on the change list and then select Submit. Then enter a change list description and click the Submit button.

If you want to start work on a project that someone else has already started, you will need to get the latest revision from Perforce using P4V. To do this, find the project in the Depot View in P4V and then Right-click on the project you want to get and select Get Latest Revision. This will download all the files to the location you specified for your Workspace Root above.

Connecting from Unreal Editor

You can connect to your Perforce server right from the Editor by clicking on the Source Control icon on the Toolbar:

Once open, choose Perforce as the provider from the Source Control Login dialog and enter your login credentials. If you have a workspace already set up (that the current project is inside of), your login credentials should be populated automatically.

When using some servers, including many cloud providers - you may need to enter the Host and Password to access your depot from the Editor. You can do this by opening the advanced field at the bottom of the Perforce login dialog:

Description

session_start(array = []): bool

When session_start() is called or when a session auto starts, PHP will call the open and read session save handlers. These will hair and fur error create file be a built-in save handler provided by default or by PHP extensions (such as SQLite or Memcached); or can be custom handler as defined by session_set_save_handler(). The read callback will retrieve any existing session data (stored in a special serialized format) and will be unserialized and used to automatically populate the $_SESSION superglobal when the read callback returns the saved session data back to PHP session handling.

To use a named session, call session_name() before calling session_start().

When session.use_trans_sid is enabled, the session_start() function will register an internal output handler for URL rewriting.

If a user uses or similar with ob_start(), the function order is important for proper output. For example, must be registered before starting the session.

Parameters

If provided, this is an associative array of cl_show error 1 that will override the currently set session configuration directives. The keys should not include the prefix.

In addition to the normal set of configuration directives, a option may also be provided. If set to this will result in the session being closed immediately after being read, thereby avoiding unnecessary locking if the session data won't be changed.

Return Values
