And you can do that quickly by typing O+P+Enter. And we'll just turn off the Backup File Creation and the Auto Save feature. Of course, then you're running the. If the object is not disposed when you come to write to the file again, the open object can hold a lock on the file, preventing you from writing. In the last couple of weeks we both have been having the "Error writing / closing file" message pop up quite often (I believe when auto saving).

HP DESIGNJET 130 86 11 ERROR CODE

Someone finally got the "write/close" error besides myself!!!! I was beginning to think it was just me. Unfortantly, I been communicating with Autodesk for the past month regarding this error, and there is no solution. They currently want me to uninstall and reinstall Civil 3D, error writing/closing file. Because of project deadlines, error writing/closing file, I don't have the time to take that extreme of a step.

To be fair, my write/close error occurs everytime I try to sqlstate 42000 error 3202 a drawing into vault, error writing/closing file. Perhaps, you can workaround your problem by not using autosave. Of course, you have to get into the habit of saving frequently. Ctrl-S is just as quick to save the drawing I turned my autosave off after the Autodesk instructurer told us that Autosave and Civil 3D just don't like to play together. I got into the habit of pressing Ctrl-S about every 5 or 10 minutes.

So far, Autodesk's solution to the "write/close error" is the shotgun approach. They have me shooting pellets untill I hit something. This certainly doesn't inspire confidence in the program.

Have you checked the read/write status of the drive, directory or file?
Also, if you are on a network you need to check the permissions for the
drive and directory. And there has been an issue which Autodesk has
isolated and dealt with regarding write problems with files on a network.
Check out the Autodesk technical support files for the download, which adds
(SetVar "DwgWrite" 1) to your sprers.eu file.

drawing database. First try the AutoCAD "RECOVER" command. If that
doesn't help, WBLOCK everything out to a new drawing. If it still will
not save do a DXFOUT on the drawing, start a new drawing, and do a DXFIN.
If you have any xrefs in the drawing detach them and clean up each one
individually. The DXFOUT/DXFIN approach is a little drastic and should
be used as a last resort, but if nothing else works, go for it. It worked
for me.

Along with the other fine suggestions you've received, you might check how much
space there is on your hard drive. Do this while you have the drawing open and
right after you get the error message.

I've experienced this message even trying to save and quit a drawing due to
inadequate space on disk. The reason you need to check disk space with the
drawing loaded is because AutoCAD creates a number of temporary files, some of
which can become quite large after a prolonged period of editing. error writing/closing file Shinn

Default Re: User is receiving an error writing/closing file on autosave

    Hi J,

I was searching around and found THIS tid-bit. Basically, try renaming/removing the automatic save directory and recreate it, verify the permissions, and point Automatic Save Path Location to it again.

It may not work because you have already tried changing the path to the local drive, but at least it may be worth a try.

Also, error writing/closing file, are there any proxy entities in the suspect drawings? If so maybe THIS will help. It looks like a quick test to see if this is the case is to turn visretain off and see if it works. This is from a Release 13 post, so it may not apply any more, but I would check anyway, just in case.

And a question: do you have quotas set on your drives?
