This is intended to serve as an aid to those who may in the future have a problem similar to yours. If they have a ready source of reference available, perhaps won’t need to repeat questions previously asked and answered. If a post did contain the solution to your problem, you can also close the error shadow system bios rom - 38 by marking the helpful post as “The Answer”. .

Though here is that Error Code on the Diagnostic Card or reported from the BIOS?

You’ll have to look at the error codes from the card if that is what is telling you this error message and not Phoenix. 😉

The seq uence that the co d e di splays is decided by BIOS of the motherb oard. <2> Code haven't be defined is not in cluded in t he table. @ For the different BIOS (such as AMI, AwardPhoenix )a Code has different meanings. At present, error shadow system bios rom - 38, it has be discovered that the code is displayed when you insert the card into the PCI slot of severa l compute rs which has registered trade mark, but not I SA. So you'd better try it on the othe r slot if the code is error shadow system bios rom - 38 displayed. In addition, on the differen t PCI slots of a board, some could d ispla y the code, for exa mple, the code is displayed and goes from· 00 " to • FF " when you insert the card into the PCI s lot, which is near to the CPU on motherboard DE LL81 0, error shadow system bios rom - 38, but if in the other slot, the code would stopped at the port "38 " ® The ti me that res er message output needed is not always in -phase, so sometimes the code Is displayed when the card in the I SA, but it is error shadow system bios rom - 38 at the orgina ti on code w hen in the PC I. @ As there are more and more kinds motherboardand the code of BIOS POST is updated cease lessly, so the meanings of e rror codes is just for reference. If the BIOS detects error 2C, 2E, error shadow system bios rom - 38, or 30 (base 512KB RAM error), error shadow system bios rom - 38, it displays an additional word-bitmap (xxxx) indicating the address line or bits that failed. For example, 2C 0002 means address line 1 (bit one set) has failed. 2E 1020 means data bits 12 and 5 (bits 12 and 5 set) have failed. The BIOS also sends this bitmap to the port-80 LED display. It first displays the check point code, followed by a delay, error shadow system bios rom - 38, the high-order byte, error shadow system bios rom - 38, another delay, and then the low-order byte of the error. It repeats this sequence continuously. Even with this information, normally you won’t be able to replace the individual chips that are bad; you’ll have to replace the entire bank of memory instead.
