Error The requested operation requires elevation

9 users found this article helpful

The message "Error The requested operation requires elevation" indicates that WinZip has been configured to Run as administrator. Some people might do this to make it possible for WinZip to create and/or edit Zip files in protected folders, such as those inside the Program Files folder. That configuration will work for some uses of WinZip, but it will then cause this issue for other uses.

Error Message

User Account Control in Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7 causes applications to run as a "user" rather than as an "administrator" by default. Certain actions you take will cause User Account Control to display a dialog which will allow you to elevate your permissions level to the administrator level. A program that is running with user permissions, however, will not cause User Account Control to offer you this option.

If you right click a file or folder in order to use the WinZip context menu for zipping (see the picture below), and if WinZip is configured to always Run as administrator, the error above will occur.

Context Menu
WinZip Properties

The configuration mentioned above can be found in the Compatibility tab of WinZip Properties. If you right click the WinZip desktop shortcut and choose Properties, the dialog will open. If you find the check box next to Run this program as an administrator is checked, Windows will require WinZip to always run with administrator permissions. In other words, any time you start WinZip, using one of the shortcut icons or by double clicking a Zip file, a UAC dialog will display requiring and enabling you to elevate your permissions.

The "Run as administrator" configuration causes a conflict with context menus, such as the WinZip one pictured. Conext menus are contolled by Windows Explorer (sprers.eu), and that is running as a user by default. Windows Explorer is unable, then, to elevate permissions, which is necessary to cause WinZip to run, since it is set to always run as administrator. You will need to remove the check from this box to stop seeing this error.

Note: You should also click the Change settings for all users button and uncheck the Run this program as an administrator box if you find that it is checked in the all users dialog.

    (4) what browser do you use?

Create process Failed: Code is an error which is caused by Windows being unable to load the permissions that your computer needs to function correctly.

Try disabling the user account control:

Enable or disable the User Account Control

    sprers.eu

Note: User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.

Let us know if that helps.

    Hello

I suggest you to ask your question at the following link.

    sprers.eu

  • Why "the requested operation requires an elevation" error with compressed files?

Pro x 64 win (installation clean dec ). After years of no problem with the zipped files, since February 3 I get a message titled "altitude" by trying to open the files zipped, be they open them in Windows Explorer or after you download and get the choice open with Internet Download Manager. Here is a screenshot with Windows Explorer: sprers.eu  OTOH, zipped files open them directly from another Manager files, XYplorer, and I can open them via my default zip file Extractor IZarc. Although I hand't nothing changed, I thought that authorization, as the source of the problem, but the three points in the user names or group for the folder and the files have all the permissions checked except for special permissions. Any idea of what this could be the cause?  Because I have not any change in config, I wonder if a Windows update might be behind it. It is a desktop PC of the single user with one account. Thank you

Yes I think that should change as well.  You should be able to force it by double-clicking any ZIP file and choose "open with > set as default" and choose the favorite program of this dialog box (which I really hate because it disappears if you click outside, so it's basically dialog too bad if you want to go check something before making your choice).

  • "The requested operation requires a rise."

Before installing Win 7 I saved a bunch of files and folders on an external hard drive. Tonight, when I tried to look at text files, I had created in Open Office, I got the error message "the requested operation requires a rise". If I right click and go to 'Properties' tab 'Security' and 'user or group name' there is a red question mark followed by a long row of numbers. (A reference to my existence of XP? Other names in this area to refer to my current system). There are options to change the permissions on 'Edit' and 'Advanced '. I don't like on these files, but I didn't change any settings that might adversely affect the program or the files of 'parent '.                                                                                                                                                              (When I created this title I had links to the forums of Vista, but the issues do not cover my problem.)

The long row of numbers that you see in the list of accounts on the Security tab is called security ID (or a SID).  When Windows does not recognize the security identifier associated with file ACL (Access Control List / Permissions) it displays the SID.  Normally, Windows will be able to translate this SID in an account name or an alias, such as "domain\username".

It seems that the original permissions are always associated with the files you are trying to access to and they are considered alien to the computer you are trying to access it from.  To open these files, you will need to take possession of them and give you access to read (or write/edit/delete).  This is the error message occurs.  "The requested operation requires an elevation" means that, in order to open the file, you will need high approval of a local administrator to capture and access.

You may already be logged on to your system as a user who is a member of the local administrators, but Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server offer additional layers of security to help protect your system.  This is called UAC or control user access.  Basically, even if you are the administrator Windows protects certain administrative functions with another layer of security.  You've probably seen the screen getting dimmed and a dialog asking you if you want to continue or cancel a certain operation.  It's UAC asking if you are really really really sure about what you are about to do and ensure that you're the only one doing it and not a red process or virus trying to take charge.

In order to change the ownership of files that you can

    1. go the properties of the folder that contains the files that needed to take possession of
    2. click on the Security tab
    3. click on Advanced
    4. click on the owner tab
    5. click on Edit
    6. Select the account name in the change in ownership to the list that you want to support
    7. check the box, replace the owner of subcontainers and objects
    8. click on OK

The ownership information will be updated on all objects in the folder including subcontainers (or subfolders).  Depending on the number of files and folders in your starting point there do this take a long time to complete.  Once it is down you will be able to change the security permissions you want to the files and folders (for example, control total, read-only, read & write, etc.).

NOTE: If you are not logged in as administrator on your system, the above steps will work not like taking possession of object file requires administrator privledges.

    Thank you

I think you are talking about the dialog box titled "do allow you the following program to make changes to this computer?  Is confirmation that the program can run & does not necessarily indicate that there is a problem with your admin, your computer account or any application you are trying to install the search.  It is to the confirmation of this process rather than forcing you to repeat a login name.  These confirmations are required, even if you are already signed in as an administrator and will occur whenever the operation you are trying to make is that only an administrator can do.

Alternatively, you can try to install the application by right clicking on the Setup file and selecting run as administrator.

Original title: music file won't play second hard drive by double click.

    Windows 7 ultimate/64

I have a second hard drive on which I store my music files. If I open a player (Foobar is what I use now) and open the music file in the program, he plays very well, since the second HD.

But if I double click on the music file (.mp3, usually), I get the message:

"The requested operation requires a rise."

I think it should open in the player by default when I do that.

I remember well, it wasn't the case when I started to use this computer (it's fairly new), while something might have changed.
I have the .mp3, .wav etc all default extensions for the Foobar player program.

I went through elaborate measures to appropriate the entire disk and have granted full permissions for me as a user, following to the letter one of the many sites of the detailed instructions for this operation. But there is no help in sight.
Original title: music file won't play second hard drive by double click

So I can let my reader opens a music file leave a second drive, but I can't call him by double click or click right/context citing the player. When I do that, nothing happens, but I don't get the message "requires a rise."

Every time I think that I am getting to know Windows 7, something like this happens. Avoid to receive life dull, of course.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I've pretty much exhausted my own attempts.

    Jack

Update: I think I've solved the problem. I have no idea that what caused it, but here's what fixed it:

1 uninstalled Foobar with usual Control Panel uninstall
2A through the startup disk everything and delete folders or files with the name "foobar" in them.
3 did the same for the registry (creating a point of restoration first, of course)
    4 restarted
    5 download and install Foobar.

    Yes.

    Works very well.

A big thank you to all who responded.

    createprocess failed code Error Fix

    Download Windows Data Migration Tool

CreateProcess Failed: Code is an error that&#;s caused by Windows being unable to properly load up the permissions that your PC requires to run. If this error is showing on your PC, it means that you don&#;t have the correct &#;rights&#; to perform the operation, and needs to be resolved by first ensuring that you can repair the various problems that your PC may have, as well as then cleaning out any of the errors that will prevent the software from running correctly.

    What Causes This Error?

The UAC (User Account Control) of Windows will be corrupted / damaged. This is what Vista & Windows 7 use to help make Windows run with all the administrator options that are required to run, and is continually causing a huge number of errors that will prevent the application from loading up.

How To Fix CreateProcess Failed; Code Errors

Step 1 &#; Disable The UAC Of Windows Vista / 7

    VISTA

Open up Control Panel, and type in “UAC” into the search box. You’ll see a link for “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off”:

On the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control (UAC)”, and then click on the OK button.

    Download Windows Repair Tool

You’ll need to reboot your computer before the changes take effect, but you should be all done with annoying prompts.

    WINDOWS 7

Windows 7 makes it much easier to deal with UAC settings, and in fact you don’t have to completely disable UAC if you don’t want to. Just type UAC into the start menu or Control Panel search box.

You can simply drag the slider up or down, depending on how often you want to be alerted.

Step 2 &#; Clean Out The Registry Of Your PC

One of the biggest causes of this error is that the &#;registry&#; of your system will become damaged & unreadable. The problem is that the registry database of Windows is a large database of settings which Windows uses to help it load up the likes of your most recent emails, desktop wallpaper and even your passwords&#; however, it&#;s also one of the biggest causes of problems for the Windows system. The issue is that your PC will continually damage this database, causing a huge number of problems to form on your PC.

We recommend using a program calledRegAce System Suite to fix the registry errors that your PC may have. You can use this tool by downloading it to your computer, installing it and then letting it repair the various problems that Windows may have inside.
