  1. Download and install the repair tool here.
  2. Let it scan your computer.
  3. The tool will then repair your computer.

The Cisco VPN Client is one of the most popular Cisco tools used by administrators, engineers and end users to connect to their remote networks and access resources. This article shows how to troubleshoot the Cisco VPN Client Error Reason Failed To Enable Virtual Adapter when trying to connect to a remote VPN gateway or router from the Windows 8 operating system (bit and bit).

With the introduction of Windows 8, Cisco VPN users are faced with a problem: Cisco VPN software is installed correctly, but cannot connect to a remote VPN network. When you try to connect to a VPN network using a Windows 8 (32 or bit) operating system, the Cisco VPN client cannot connect. As soon as the user double-clicks on the selected connection entry, the VPN client starts the negotiation and asks for the user name and password.

This problem is usually due to the fact that the Cisco VPN adapter is not properly enabled when trying to connect to the hub.

Disable the ICS service

Unfortunately, the good old-fashioned method of deleting and reinstalling does not take you very far in this case, because the problem is not with the Cisco VPN client program, but with Microsoft’s Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service.

August Update:

You can now prevent PC problems by using this tool, such as protecting you against file loss and malware. Additionally it is a great way to optimize your computer for maximum performance. The program fixes common errors that might occur on Windows systems with ease - no need for hours of troubleshooting when you have the perfect solution at your fingertips:

  • Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
  • Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.

Restart the Cisco VPN client and the problem is solved!

This applies at least to Cisco Systems VPN Client version on Windows 7 Pro Bit Edition.

Remove the VPN client and update to version k9-BETA.

1. click Start > Computer.

2. double-click on your drive C:.

3. Double-click Program Files > Cisco Systems > VPN Client.

4. Right-click on sprers.eu and select Properties.

5. click on the Compatibility tab.

9. Right-click on sprers.eu and select Properties.

  3. Find the value of the string with the name DisplayName.
  4. Right-click and choose Edit from the context menu.

  6. Click on Ok.
  7. Close the registry editor.

Reason Failed to Enable Virtual Adapter

Here we can see, &#;Reason Failed to Enable Virtual Adapter&#;

  • There are several remedies for the Cisco Failed to activate the Virtual Adapter issue.
  • A conflicting ICS configuration on your PC is the most common culprit.
  • Our article will show you how to get around this vexing Cisco problem in no time.
  • Upgrading to a better enterprise VPN solution is a common alternative.

Some Cisco VPN client software users see the Failed to enable Virtual Adapter problem message. According to the error notice, the secure VPN Connection ended locally by the Client. Reason Virtual Adapter could not be enabled.

As a result, Cisco VPN users cannot access the VPN server. However, there are a few known remedies to that error message.

How do I fix a Cisco VPN client that won&#;t allow me to enable a virtual adapter?

  1. Press the Windows key + R keys simultaneously to launch Run.
  2. In the Open text box, type sprers.eu and press the Return key (or click OK).

  10. To close the window, select the OK option.

  12. Now use the Cisco VPN client to connect.

2. Make changes to the registry

This resolution is designed to work with Windows 10, , and 8. Many Cisco VPN users have reported that using the Registry Editor to modify the DisplayName string value for CVirtA repaired the Virtual Adapter problem for them. Users of Cisco VPNs should make the following changes to the registry.

  1. Launch the Registry Editor by typing regedit into the Run box and pressing OK.
  2. Using the Ctrl + C shortcut, copy the following registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesCVirtA.
  3. Then, using the Ctrl + V shortcut, paste the path into the Registry Editor&#;s address bar, and press the Return key.
  4. To open the Edit String window for DisplayName, right-click it and select Modify.
  5. Then, delete in the Value data box. Then, depending on whether Windows is a bit or bit OS, the Value data box should include either Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for bit Windows or Cisco Systems VPN Adapter.
  6. To close the Edit String window, use the OK button.
  7. The Registry Editor should now be closed.

3. Disable the Internet Connection Sharing feature

  1. Specific customers have also confirmed turning off internet sharing for the network adapter that supplies internet for Cisco VPN to resolve the issue. To do so, type sprers.eu into the Run box and hit Enter.
  2. Right-click the internet network adapter and select Properties to open the Properties window.
  3. Select the Sharing tab from the drop-down menu.
  4. On the Sharing tab, deselect the Allow other network users to connect through this computer&#;s Internet connection option.

As soon as the user double-clicks on the selected connection entry, 442 failed to enable virtual adapter error, the VPN client starts the negotiation and asks for the user name and password.

This problem is usually due to the fact that the Cisco VPN adapter is not properly enabled when trying to connect to the hub.

Answer

Hi,

I would suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps and check if the issue on your computer gets resolved.

If you are using Cisco product:

Duplicate IP Address Triggers Error on Windows 7

The following error "Reason failed to enable virtual adapter" appears after Windows 7 reports a duplicate IP address detected. Subsequent connections fail with same message, but Windows 7 doesn't report a duplicate IP address detected.

To work around errordo the following steps:

Step 1Open "Network and Sharing Center".

Step 2Select "Manage Network Connections".

Step 3Enable the Virtual Adapter ("VA"—Cisco VPN Adapter).

Step 4Right-click on Cisco VPN Adapter and select "Diagnose" from the context menu.

Step 5Select "Reset the network adapter Local Area Connection X".

If this procedure does not work, run the following command from cmd:

reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters /v ArpRetryCount /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Then reboot.

This resolves the issue until Windows 7 reports a duplicate IP address again. Follow the preceding steps to resolve it again.

If that doesn't work, you might have UAC enabled. If so, you must run cmd as administrator and repeat the previous registry workaround.

From the following:

sprers.eu#wp

Hope this information helps you.
