400-ahci port 1 device error - congratulate, this

Hi Mary,

The AHCI Port1 Device Error likely occurs due to corrupted or missing system files. Also, when your device drivers are outdated and not installed correctly can contribute to your computer's boot up issue. As an initial troubleshooting, we suggest that you perform a Startup Repair under the System Recovery Options. To open the System Recovery Options menu, kindly follow the steps provided on this link. This will be able to repair damaged system files that prevent Windows from booting properly.

If the issue still persists, we recommend that you manually troubleshoot the issue using the Bootrec.exe tool. To do so, kindly follow the steps provided on this link. This will be able to fix and rebuild your Boot Configuration Data.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

OS2AHCI can not operate on large Disks (2 TB)

Following harddisks were tested:

WD500BPVT(17 Mar 2012, 2,5) - works in IDE and AHCI mode
WD30EZRX (08 May 2012, 3,5) - works only in IDE mode
WD20EZRx (28 Mar 2013, 3,5) - works only in IDE mode
WD20EZRX (28 Mar 2013, 3,5) - works only in IDE mode

The HD's are quite modern, so I do not think they are not AHCI-capable.

The WD500 drive is the boot drive, so it has to stay on the intel-adapter. The second adapter cannot boot. So I have only the big HD, which do not work on this adapter.

Unfortunately the second adapter cannot run in IDE-Mode and is not considered by DANIS506.

Any idea to come closer to the problem? Maybe I will install Win7 to the 2 now 2 TB HD's to show their AHCI-capability...

AHCI Port1 Device Error

I would say that no, that motherboard does not have M.2 slot.
Boot disk.. well.. windows 7 dvd should be bootable but according to BIOS bootup screen, you don't have dvd drive and as such, cannot really boot from it.
Leaving "create bootable USB stick installer for windows 7" and "use USB dvd-drive" as alternatives.
Since I have never done bootable win7 usb installer myself, I sadly cannot tell how to do it for certain.
Following link seems to have basic steps on how to do it if you decide to go that route.
https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9585/how-to-setup-a-usb-flash-drive-to-install-windows-7/

Edit if you mean "boot disk" as in Acer didn't supply you with bootable dvd or recovery media, then I cannot really help. Microsoft policy back in windows 7 days was still "We wont give media away"(unlike now with windows 10, where it's just go here and download latest version) and as such your only legal choices would be to contact Acer for recovery media or... buy new license.

AHCI (vmw_ahci) performance issue resolved in ESXi 6.5 Update 1

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. ESXi 6.7U2 in 2019. Supermicro motherboard with onboard SAS + SATA.

Was having all manner of issues with speed, and eventually system hanging and crashing when accessing drives. As well, the general page loading when doing anything related to disk was terrible (browsing folders actually took loading time). If this sounds like your symptoms, the solution for my system might help you too!

Supermicro X9DR3-LN4F+ here, with onboard SAS and SATA, but probably X10 and maybe X11 is the same - as well as many other motherboards with the same chipset, I would imagine.

I tried EVERYTHING - BIOS settings, different drives, this vmw_ahci driver, all manners of things. Was banging me head against the wall.

Then I realised I'd never updated the BIOS on this board. Checked the version, and it was a super old (2 major versions, and 6 (!!!) years older than the current version).

Updated motherboard BIOS, reinstalled ESXi and _immediately all of the datastores from before worked great_! Bonus: the data is even there.
It's running with the stock ahci driver as well from ESXi. Seems there is no need to change it if this fixes it for you.

TL;DR - check your BIOS version on your motherboard. A BIOS update might finally fix it for you too. Digging through the release notes for the BIOS firmware from this mobo, I see there are a number of SATA and/or SAS controller changes and/or updates through the revisions. Makes sense I guess.

WD30EZRX (08 May 2012, 3,5) - works only in 400-ahci port 1 device error mode
WD20EZRx (28 Mar 2013, 3,5) - works only in IDE mode
WD20EZRX (28 Mar 2013, 3,5) - works only in IDE mode

The HD's are quite modern, so I do not think they are not AHCI-capable.

The WD500 drive is the boot drive, so it has to stay on the intel-adapter. The second adapter cannot boot. Dll relocation error I have only the big HD, which do not work on this adapter.

Unfortunately the second adapter cannot run in IDE-Mode and is not considered by DANIS506.

Any idea to come closer to the problem? Maybe I will install Win7 to the 2 now 2 TB HD's to show their AHCI-capability.
