Thread: How to repair 3ds Max broken license (no piracy inside)

THIS THREAD IS NOT RELATED TO PIRACY. BUT A BUG/PROBLEM 3DS MAX MAY ENCOUNTER

Sometimes happens u are editing something on 3dsmax and then program crashes totally, destroying the same software and license (because 3ds memory and registry will be corrupted too with the crash)
If u open 3ds max and a screen tells you something about "broken license" error, you have to repair it because the software will ask you again the serial.. and if you reput the code, the error will come back again! and if you try to bypass this, thru free trial, once free trial will be expired, you will have no chance to use 3ds max, because software will ask you infinitely times to re-put the serial. and infinitely times software will give you the broken license error!

how to solve this problem?

Easy... go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\applications data\Autodesk\Software Licenses and delete the file inside.

PS= if you dont see applications folder, means it's invisible by default.. u have to set all the folders as visible, and you will find the applications data..

Now open 3ds max and a screen will tell you, your software hasnt the license at all! now insert again the serial and after the procedure, 3ds max will work again 100%, without any problem!

Autodesk 3ds max 2011 error

Hello!

This is an often encountered problem among the users of Windows 7, so you might want to try modifying the compatibility. First make sure you are in the administrator mode, then right-click on the program icon, go to Properties, check the "Run in compatibility" box and then try selecting what type of Windows you are using. You can still try to select other types, such as Vista instead of Windows 7 and vice versa.

If this doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to try uninstalling and reinstalling the program again. Don't forget to clean the registries after you uninstall it, preferably using a specialized software like CCleaner.

There might be a problem in compatibility between your operating system and the program, both must be either on 32-bit or on 64-bit, not one in 32 and the other on 64, although for this kind of software it is better to use 64-bit programs.

Then again, the internal memory of your computer might not be enough, case in which I suggest buying some extra RAM to improve the capacity of your PC. Or it could be the graphic card or the display driver, it happens when they are outdated and can't keep up with the program's requirements.

I hope you solve your problem as soon as possible!

3ds Max

Solution:

There are a wide variety of possible ways to resolve these issues. Here are some common troubleshooting steps:

Update 3d Max:

3ds Max updates include consistent stability fixes. These help customers keep up with the ever-changing environment of Operating Systems and hardware.

Create a new Windows User Account:

Create a new Windows User Account to ensure that the account has administrator privileges for 3ds max to run.

Check BIOS/UEFI settings:

In some cases, 3ds Max or Maya load slowly or freeze when launching from an SSD drive under Windows 10. This slowdown may be caused by a BIOS/UEFI settings issue on the PC.

Check for Windows 10 Creators Update Issues:

After installing the newest Windows 10 Creators Updates, 3ds Max may have issues starting. This may necessitate re-installing 3ds Max using the Autodesk Uninstall Tool.

In some cases the following error message may appear: "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVC110.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." However the file does exist in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

To resolve the error, use the following methods:

Reset the 3ds Max User Preferences:

Check Windows 10 Permissions

If Windows 10 does not allow you to rename the \ENU folder in the preceding instructions because of insufficient permissions:

Download and run the Windows Easy Fix tool:

Reset Windows Administrator privileges for certain folders/files*:

  1. In Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive that is causing the problem.
  2. Left Click to bring up the Properties menu.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. In the first window, click Administrators (the computer name-PC Administrators).
  5. Just below the window, click Edit.
  6. Click Administrators (the computer name-PC Administrators) again. (Note: If Apply is dimmed, select a box in the Deny column to bring up Apply.)
  7. Select a box in the Allow column. This selects all the boxes except the last one, and deselects all the boxes in the Deny column.
  8. Click Apply to run a scan of the files in the drive.
  9. When the scan is finished, click OK.
  10. The first box should still be open.
  11. In the first window, click Users (your computer name-PC\Users) and repeat steps 5-9, clicking Users (your computer name-PC\Users) instead of Administrators (your computer name-PC Administrators).
Note: You may not have to click in the Deny column after the first scan is completed, as indicated in the preceding instructions.

*These instructions are taken from "You don't have permission to save in this location".

Add a System Variable:

  1. Open the Windows 10 Control Panel.
  2. Change the Control Panel settings to View by: Small Icons (or Large Icons.)
  3. Select System, then click the Advanced system settings link.
  4. Click Environment Variables.
  5. In the System Variables section, find the PATH environment variable and select it.
  6. Click Edit. (If the PATH environment variable does not exist, click New.)
  7. In the Edit System Variable (or New System Variable) window, add the following line (substitute "20xx" number for the relevant version of 3ds Max):
<C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx\>

  1. Reboot the PC and see if the preceding steps fix the issue.

Enable the Hidden Windows 10 Administrator Account

Note: you may need to check with your IT personnel/network administrator first.

Check for Graphics Issues:

  1. Right-click on the ViewCube in any viewport and pick Configure > Viewport Configuration > View cube tab, and uncheck the Show the ViewCube button.
  2. Then, restart 3ds Max.

Note: To prevent the ViewCube from loading even after changing 3ds Max templates, workspaces or resetting default user settings, go to the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 20xx\stdplugs folder, and rename the AutoCamMax.gup file to AutoCamMax.gup.BAK.

Check Windows dependency and security issues:

Note: Some customers have reported that older versions of Visual C++, such as 2012, need to be uninstalled and reinstalled for 3ds Max to launch successfully after certain Windows 10 updates.

  1. Right-click on Start in Windows and go to Run.
  2. Type: secpol.msc and press OK.
  3. Go to Local Policies > Security Options.
  4. Scroll down and find:
User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.
  1. Double-click and change to Disabled.
  2. Restart Windows, and the error should disappear.

I have just installed Windows 7 on my machine. I am trying to install Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 (32 bit). When I tried to install Autodesk 3d Max 2011, instead of its name that should be displayed on the Start menu, it would say Change Graphical Settings. I have also noticed, that, when I open the application, it would try to load up but after a while an error would pop up saying "Software License Checkout Failed: Error 20". After getting that error message, the loading stops and eventually closes the application. I already tried to reinstall the application, however, that did not do help at all.

I would really appreciate your suggestions to resolve this issue. Any suggestion will do, as long as, it helps me fix this error and continue with my work. Thank you for the assistance.

Max 2011 x32 is fine.
Composite x32 and x64 are fine
Max 2011 x64 gives the error "The software license failed to initialize. Error 10"

Other versions of Max are fine too.

Max crashed on load due to me messing with MaxStartUI.mnu (and getting it wrong ). Gave a warning that the file was corrupt, and exited. Not been able to run Max 2011x64 since. Note that it was working correctly up to the crash - no license errors at that point.
