Awards for Software Services R&D in New Member States

Concept
Nine awards will be granted to the most active researchers or teams from new member states of Europe to acknowledge their activity in the field of software service during the last decade.
The awards (each of 1000 Euros) will be granted during SPRERS events as follows:
- awards at the training event from December 2010
- award at the workshop organized in June 2011
- awards at four workshops organized in September 2011
- awards at the training organized in November 2011
Categories
The categories proposed for the awards by the project team and expert group are the following:
- the best paper in software services published in a journal with high impact factor on the scientific community
- the best paper in software services to an international conference with high impact factor on the community
- the best involvement of a team from new member states at EC ICT programme in software services
- the best idea for a project proposal for FP7-ICT Call 8 - Objective 1.2
- the best young researcher in software services
- the best awareness level in FP7 grant schemes and current projects in software services
- the best software service developed in new member states and with high impact on the international market
- the best contribution to SPRERS scientific events
- most informative website on software services research
The awarded persons or teams should be native and current citizens from new member states of European Community.
Awards granting
Criteria will be published for each of the above described categories.
Beyond the findings of SPRERS team and expert group, any researcher or team interested in the awards can provide their self assessed data for evaluation to the contact address mentioned above.
The awards will be received at the site of the SPRERS events and the award owners will be invited to present their activities to the corresponding event audience.
Award for the most informative web site

Award for the best contribution to SPRERS activities

Award for a young researcher - November 2011
Aim: Reward young researchers for the results they have obtained in the field of software services during the preparation of their Master/PhD thesis or during their postdoctoral research.
Prize: The prize consists of 1000 euro (840
euro without taxes) and a diploma.
Who can apply? Any young researcher (at most 35 years) who:
· has citizenship in one of the 12 new member states of EU (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia);
· has obtained results in the field of software services (reflected in published papers or in a Master/PhD thesis).
Which are the evaluation criteria? The applications will be evaluated taking into account:
- the matching between the research topics and the field of software services
- quality, relevance and impact of the results

- Curriculum Vitae (including the list of published papers)
- Copies of the most relevant published papers having the candidate as main author or the Master/PhD thesis in English

Awards for the best awareness level in FP7 grant schemes and current projects in software services - September - November, 2011
There were four awards granted to participants to four conferences having sessions in software services:

At each conference one winner will be selected, based on her/his answers to a written quiz containing questions related to FP7 grant schemes, competition procedures and current projects related to software services. Each winner will receive 250 euro (with taxes) and a diploma.
Award - June 9th, 2011
The best idea for a project proposal for FP7-ICT Call 8 - Objective 1.2:
Platform for high level abstraction of Cloud computing, from Institute of Informatics, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, Slovakia, presented by Viet Tran
Criteria:
- The proposers have the nationality of a new member states of European Community
- The idea is presented in the frame of the 2nd WoSS
- The idea matches the requirements of FP7-ICT Call 8 - Objective 1.2.
- The
proposal classified on the first three places between all the
submissions by a committee of evaluators for Call 8 (agreement
procedure).
- The proposal classified on the first three places between all the presented ideas by the audience of the 2nd WoSS (voting procedure).

- Number of citations of the paper (without auto-citations)
- Degree of matching with the topics in software services

- All the authors have the nationality of a new member states of European Community
- The international conference is indexed in international databases
- Number of citations of the paper (without auto-citations)
- Degree of matching with the topics in software services of the paper
- Degree of matching with the topics in software services of the event
Criteria for the best involvement at EC FP7-ICT programme
- Number of participations to EC FP7-ICT projects at Objective 1.2
- Number of participations to EC FP7-ICT as coordinator
